plug-in question

Alright.

what plug-in(s)/effects do you lot use to produce that ominous feel over the mix? You know, that dark and dreary...without sacrificing the life of the individual parts.

I'm not too keen on loads of verb, and I only really like to use distortion to "warm" things up.

Is a tube plug-in the answer? any ideas?

Antares Tube, BBe Sonic Maximizer (b very gentle), PSP Mixsaturator (I think thats the correct name.. not 2 sure)... Izotope Ozone .. is good but I've never used it much!
