I see what your saying, but its just not worth discussing something which hasn't happened yet and is so negative in my opinion. I admit, things aren't looking so great overall, but all I hear is moans and groans about hard style and that attitude only percipitates more moans and groans. Sure we can discuss negative things, but is there really any point?

Don't stop making good hardstyle because other labels are getting away with making shite. Music shouldn't be about making a tune as its currently the in genre and you want to make as many as you can fast so you catch the genre at its peak so you make money. Producing is about trying to cast your own image upon a genre you love so you can offer your own ideas and imagination in a track. I've got so much respect for producers that produce pure class with thought and feeling, and I can easily spot a track that is produced for the purposes of blagging... well... I feel that I can anyways.

Ok a few years ago it was booming and had tons of good releases but every music genre goes through a bad patch doesn't it?

In all honesty it doesn't really bother me that the majority of hardstyle is crap because it's not what I play. It won't kill the genre entirely, merely do it some harm. I have a record box full of hardstyle tunes that have no hennes & cold bass, no screechy synth and no cheesy vocal.

The genre is already evolving into something else, the shit tunes are just the aftermath of fast popularity. Leave them to the suckers that still buy them and forget them. Don't waste your time on them, but don't also completely give up.

That's really made me think Wez. You're so right. It's an underground pop idol approach to music which quite frankly, isnt underground at all. i'm not going to give up on hardstyle because i still find hardstyle records that i like but all the time i'm thinking - have they sampled that bass? have they sampled that sound? And usually if the answer is yes, the release is shit. There ARE some good hardstyle records out there but its seeming more and more that hardstlye by numbers is the way to go and I don't like that at all about this music. Mind you hard trance is to a certain extent music by numbers and I've loved that for years. And so is acid techno. But to me the forumla's are alot less than those that hardstyle is using now.

The growth of hardstyle was amazingly quick, not as quick as hard house (now THAT WAS simple to make/recreate!) but its that speed and greed of record labels that has screwed the fans of hardstyle over. Profit over quality.

I don't believe we are victims of our love of technology, technology after all brought us this sound. I feel that its the lack of vision of some labels and producers to evolution. I'm exactly the same in that I rip a hard style track to shreds upon hearing it, especially if I recognise elements and sounds from other hard style tunes in that release. It's just lazy and not thinking or trying to create good music...

Inovation has been lost and systematic approach to production has curiously taken over. I think this is because people can't beat the best of hardstyle that has already been made. You can either make it hard and harder until it becomes something else or silly, or make it more melodic until it becomes hard hard trance. Hard Style doesn't need to get harder, it needs to become more interesting. It needs to use completely new sets of sounds. NEW tricks and to have build ups and break downs completely re-written.

One track I really like for its production is Deep Pack - 100%
(http://germantrance.com/content/_rams/7006585B.ram for Geoff!) - it BUILDS lovely, and I think this is where hard style needs to go. Instead of being "banging" from the first time the beat comes in, it should build up and build up percussively over longer periods... and then hit you with a great break and hard kick & bass. I love the way this track has that crazy part where the synth roller coats in to snare and drums before brining in the harder kicks. Clever and interesting production...

I dunno... but that's what my feelings tell me....

no i'm sure it's all about producers who 'think' they are producers because they've got a cracked copy of fruity loops/reason. it really is. this is the problem and this is where crap hardstyle and most of the crap electronic music these days has sprung from.... we need a qulaity control and we're not going to get this from label owners so surely the responsibility lies with the producers?

I cant remember it ever being so hard to find good quality tunage of the harder variety.Its either very poorly produced or a rehashed cheesey crap number that the label has threw out the door just to make a quick buck.Ok we all know labels have got to make some money but some of them were there at the forefront of the sound and now they are at the bottom of the barrel imo, but the ones at the bottom of the barrel are obviously selling more units of the cheesey stuff or they wouldnt be doing it.Too many ppl think about the quick buck and not the damage that they are doing to the scene.

I will just continue to do what ive always done and trawl through the shit to find the goodies.

The reason i say that the labels to date taking on such cheese is i class them Dream Killers , why you ask

It really makes me sit here and think , instead of producing for wezentiger , **** it , im gunna start a label and trawl the internet for young / old 100% passion artists / dj's , take on theer material and show the others how it should be done ,

its simply to easy to get hold of , and if you fall into the stubborness of , well if he can make a track with that beat n bass , so can i , if he can sell it , so i can i !

I strongly disagree with you there mark. You taring everyone who use's software studio's with the same brush, and that isnt right. Some of the most original music ive heard this year has been produced soley on software studios, tracks from people like Omkara Techichi,(who uses reason), and stuff from Enticer, who uses Renoise. Its not about what you use, its about how you use it, and the reasons you are actually making a track. Saying "it's all about producers who 'think' they are producers because they've got a cracked copy of fruity loops/reason" really is the same as being racist, "All arabs are terroists and benefit grabbers", which obviosly isnt the case. Yes, there is a lot of people who use fruity or reason, and do produce crap for money, but this doesnt mean everyone does.

i'm not taring everyone with the same brush. i'm talking about people who 'think' they are producers because they've just got hold of a cracked copy of reason and think they can bang the tracks out with it when they really havent got the knowledge or the experience to understand the art of production.

sure there's great producers out there who rely solely on software, i'm not blaming the software, i'm blaming the way it's used by certain people.

Man, i was sayin this to u the other mornin, jay passed me some records sites addys i hadnt used before after goin thru my normal ones, spent around 4 hours searching for tunes and only came away with techno and trance, and only 2 from hard trance hardstyle that bein the new scot project and toolboy.
