If you are going to play solely hardstyle, then you need to be damn good. It's as simple as that because the only slots you will get in a club will be from 12 onwards, and depending on how late your club licensing in your city is, it might not give you much of a chance.
Personally I absolutely hate hearing music too hard at least until after 11 o'clock. It kills the night because there is nowhere you can go after that but back down, and it's too early for that. Many times I have turned up to a gig to play the main slot and arrived at 10 to hear a DJ playing exactly what I would which means i've then got to tone it down a bit, which might affect the people in the club's enjoyment. The only thing you can really aim for if you are up and coming is the later slots, the graveyard shifts if you like. No-one minds you banging it out then.
I can totally undestand where promoters come from, because it takes a very well skilled DJ to be able to create highs and lows with just hardstyle or any kind of hard music. It's a subtle thing that many people don't even see, but you can be assured that all of the DJ's mentioned who stand out are more than aware of it. Promoters listen to CDs, so perhaps if you're not getting booked, you simply may just need to get back to the bedroom practising.
It's easy to blame club politics after all (though they do exist) but sometimes you need to be fairer to the clubs. Most clubs don't cater for hard dance, not because they are scared of the druggy reputation - it's more that drug users don't buy drinks, and that's where most clubs gain their profit. I don't like the fact that people who bring entourages get bookings easier, but it makes sense for the promoters. The only thing to do there is get more friends!
This is a bit of a harsh statement m8 - maybe think of others having different tastes before you say things are shite. Personally I dislike MC'ing, and if I were to say that was fu*king shite you'd probably take offence.Quote:

i dont mind mcs aslong as they k now when to shut up and aslong as they are good at it, Sharkey is a prime example of a good mc ;)
si & ribbz are quality mc's too, infact sharkey,si & ribbz are defo the best mc's at the moment imo....Quote:

paul but if they were as bad as ben said surely that would be a reason not to attend an event if you thought the music was gonna be ruined and the mc gave you a sore head!!!
That could be a point, but ben said that. not me.Quote:

yeah mate i see what your saying i just thought you agreed wholly with ben!! you should check out some north packs as the quality of mc'ing is excellent apart from mc shocker on the C&J tapes!!
nearly every bit of MC-ing ive heard has just been drunken shouting over the music! sorry if my words are harsh, but it really gets on my tits when theres a great tune playing and u cant hear it for the MC. i just dont see the need for it, certainly not in Hardstyle, it just too cheesey IMO
a little bit now and again at the breaks in tunes etc is OK, but most MC's just cant help themselves!
i prefer an introduction of each DJ at the start of their set rather than gibbering all the way thru a set. I like to hear the DJ mixing records, not some guys voice shouting.
each to their own and that!! :!:
aye it certainly each to their own....
Sorry, I didn't mean to change this topic in to a discussion about MC's, I was just trying to get the point across that different people like and dislike different things, so you need to be a bit more tolerant in your opinions.
lol mate tis ok hahahaha its to be expected on here eh?
Yeah, for sure
so have you done any more cd's lately m8???
I'm afraid not. But when I do, I promise it'll be good...!
I think it's been about a year since I last did one. I haven't really been playing out much either. Have to make a bit of a comeback soon I think
i personally like some mc,ing, but that was a good pointQuote:
