Yes Hip hop has the image, but what drives that image? You have Clear Channel which is a huge monopoly. ( I know because I used to work for them, shh) Anyway, they own most of the major radio stations here, and many of the large venues. And since they are so tight with MTV what happen is.. You have some genric shit Jay Z makes, it is plastered all over the radio stations, then played on MTV 6 times a day, over and over. Guess what? People see it right in front of them and they accept it, and that image becomes apart of their culture. If Techno, or even electronic music in general had real media outlets such as radio then you would see a larger community evolve. Instead, word of mouth spreads through kids who have been in he scene for many years and you might get some new blood here and there. That is not the way for a scene to grow & thrive...
Well....some of us dont have the luxury of staying out all night during the work week either

For 9 months I was up at 6 am and went to bed by 10, 11 pm. Pay backs a bitch!!!!!!!!! ;)
On a side note, thankz Anthony!
no doubt man
the only image techno should have is a pic of a brain.
You do know though, that a brain ain´t exactly a chick-magnet. A Ferrari is.
If we got such big brains, we oughta think of a way of creating a "cool" image.
maybe we should make techno music videos where we party like rap videos....
sippin on goose, girlies on my lap, and sportin' ice on my chest!!!
*bling bling*
its a "cool" image that throws up these kinda problems.... people thinking its "cool" to like certain styles, and then bailing ship when the said style is out of favour, has been rinsed completely out of any viable talent or respect it once contained and is on its last legs ... the absolute and utter LAST thing techno needs is any image attatched to it.... and for arguments sake if techno does have an image attatched at the moment, its certainly not geeks who cant get a girlfriend.... im not a geek (well i dont look like one anyway), id say 95% of the artists i know/admire are not geeks, alot have really beautiful girlfriends etc etc so im not sure where that comes from really... Techno will never ever get sold to the "kids" enough to make it a mass market, there aint gonna be no new MTV generation
and knock me down with a big stick if im wrong, but hasnt techno been one of those genres over the years were people really were happy to let the music do the talking?
Like I stated ebfore image or not, theres no putlet.. you cold come up with a grat idea, but how exactly will people find out about it? there is no mtv or radio for techno in the states, let alone electronic music in general..
To make it in America Techno needs a fashion make over too.....

techno dorks in bedrooms producing techno can wear whatever they want (i know i do).
but to be a scene, you need girls. girls require image. otherwise your party is just a sausage fest with a few women (at best) who arent there for the guys.
surprised people took that seriously hahaha
 One of my coworkers just said to me today that they were playing techno on WKTU the other day....just to give the people on here a clue as to what KTU plays....it ain't techno:doh:Quote:

sure the neat thing about techno is that any of us dorks can make tunes in our bedrooms, but let's face it...who gets remembered by the average punter?
mark eg is a nutter. you fuggin REMEMBER his ass after you see him play.
more crazy punk bastards in techno. that's my theory and i am stickin to it!

Doesn't it cut both ways though, you can play techno at trance nights? Which isn't such a bad thing!Quote:

Very good post. I have been considering a move either Belgium or Holland for quite some time now, but with my worthless dollar (compared to the Euro) its just not possible. Thanks W.Quote:
