The rudeness.
I dont like DJs as a rule, but I make some acceptions...
Rush
Hawtin
Liebing
There are others....but not many.
Why DJ Rush?
Have seen him a few times over the years and he was rather dissapointing. Plodcore.
I suppose his productions might bring him into the top bracket?
Disagree completely.Quote:

Jeff Mills
Richie Hawton
Adam Beyer
I haven't seen these guys much live, but when listening to their live sets online, I'm always entertained.
maybe I'd had one too many and every track just started sounding the same :roll:Quote:

Jeff Mills - the best techno DJ ever. Period. Literally invented techno dj'ing.
Derrick May - was ferocious, and utterly unique. Inventor.
Claude Young - the most dextrous of them all, Jeff Mills protégé.
Rob Hood - blistering minimal master, another inventor.
DJ Murphy
Jerome Hill
Justin Swales
chris liberator
pet duo
jerome hill
dave the drummer is easily best dj i have heard technically. Couldn't pick 2nd and 3rd as too many favourites.
although for pa's i'd say ddr (especially when he was doing the A&E dept ones) , dave the drummer then guy.
1.dave 2.markeg 3.producer gotta be awkward with the third choice aint i
Ben Sims - Holds it down behind the decks.
Joris Voorn - Pushing the sounds to a depths never heard before...

Ruskin
Sims
Clarke
Billy Nasty
Jeff Mills
Dave the Drummer
Carl Cox
Eric Sneo
Sandy Warez
D.A.V.E the Drummer
Umek
Sekonz (local edinburgh dj who imo would technially nail most djs)
Got others, but 2nite... thats what i have narrowed it down to.
Infact, swap Umek for Arkus P.... I saw him in edinburgh last year and he blew me away....technically good but played hard tekno with a bit of groove and it seemed like he wasnt afraid to mix up different kinds of the hard stuff.
Chris Liberator
Dave The Drummer
Gordie (don't know if he's still playing though)
Dude, as lovely as he is, Gordy is a terrible DJ, and I think he actually only has 30 records.
He is a bit of a legend though.
I remember we did a benefit party to sort Gordies hernia years ago.
is gordie still alive? shitting hell. bet he still plays batrave!
Gordie - he would play that Underground Sound record on Organgrinder twice every hour.
Have had him play after me and just collapse face first into the decks before managing to cue the first tune...
steve rachmad, regis, james ruskin
DAVE the drummer (not many people havent mentioned this gezza)
Rowland The Bastard (i like how hard he plays it)
Berio 303 (ive heard an amazing live PA if that counts)
G13 (dont know if many of you will know mike from section 63 but his sets kick ass everytime)
Alex Calver (Hard as Nails)
Jeff Armadus (Hard and kills 3 decks)
3 clearly wasnt enough!
Marco Remus (hes a fukin animal)
Pet duo(got me in to obnoxius techno)
Davethedrummer(after the first time i heard him live from pure filth a cd unfortunaly)
1. Jason Orange
2. Frank Bruno
3. MARK EG
inigo kennedy, for keeping it techno
richie hawtin , for keeping it trendy, advanced and techno
dave clarke (purely on the scale of audience he reaches, which is great for techno)
Im gonna be controversial
A. I havent met them yet
B. Someone with ideas who enjoys doing it
C. Not the average dull as **** techno DJ who plays the same shit as everyone else and does nothing to sow the belief that they are either musical or actuall give a shit about music. I was going to say a certain leeds DJ that i know that im sure ISNT a regular on here and whom i will not slander cos its rude. ( A more perfect model of how NOT to spin records i have never seen, some of my students who hate Djing cos they like rock came up with MORE inventive mixes using final scratch and a multi FX unit)
On the positive side
Support your local (inventive and interesting musicians - DJs - MCs - promoters - and good eggs. they are what is good)
on another note - the best techno dj is the one who keeps you guessing.
If i was going to pick 3 then they'd be...
Carl Cox, if not for acheivement then certainly ability. I think his style has gone a bit wayward these days though, bring back the days of Fact/2 and he's a winner. Playing the millenium set twice in two different time zones is simply a once in lifetime acheivement, the only man ever to acheive it, abolute record breaker.
Second for me is Chris Liberator, have always been a fan ever since those days at the Complex (funnily enough Cox played there too) & at Trancentral. Big respect to Soul Mantra, one of the most inspiring tunes i know. All round top bloke and DJ, there's so much energy in his style he's a rare breed imo.
Lastly i'm drawn towards D.a.v.e The Drummer for his fantastic, chunky production. The Hydrauylix label output is so reliable you know the music is gonna be tough as funk! All rounder really, 3 decks, live, Final Scratch, prosuction etc, certanly does a lot more on stage, but Chris wins because (as a raver) i think his style works best on the dance floor. Very close between the two, very close indeed.
Imho.
this is too difficult so I'm going to post my 3 personal faves to dance to first and then some others who I like for other reasons.
1. gotta be a certain mr. jeff amadeus.
he plays the most pounding screaming techno, but builds up his sets really well, so they never get boring: I've seen him play a 1.5 hr set where he started with tech house and built it up to crowbar recs type stuff, and entirely convincingly too! :)
2. Mr. Jerome Hill.
cos he's so damn innovative, and has quite possibly the best skills and record collection I've heard played out. His sets always make me happy.
3. This is a difficult one, I want to put a fast dj here, of the detroity type. It's gotta be either richie Hawtin or Fumiya Tenaka for me. They build it up so beautifully, makes me want to scream.
Hawtin's a bit of a top showman too.
I'd just like to post up full respect to Chris Liberator, he doesn't play my fave techno, but I love his cutty style, and he got me into techno with his face full of techno jolliness, he always looks like he's loving it, and the man deserves a mention here.
Mark EG cos I've seen him play, and his mad capering made me smile, also his unique style of stomp core made me rather happy on my birthday a couple years ago.
And DAVE the drummer, because I love that chunky rolling sound and he does a top job on 3 dex, keep it up!
Also enough respect to all the original london acid techno crew, you are all proper hardcore and should all have an honourary place in the top djs thing for being the face of true rave. DAVE, Guy, Liberators, etc.
But yeah, them first 3 options would have to be the true ones I suppose for me personally.
