I love a bit of ghetto-tech thrown alongside normal techno, the way that people like Sims/Clarke/Mac etc do it, really adds something to a big fat bassline if there is someone going on about asses and sexual positions!!! :eyes: :cheese:

future of techno?
it's been around too long to be a trend really.
Still damn good stuff
Even joints from 97 are timeless and can still jack it bang it work it till this day.
For me, the whole point of ghetto tech / ghetto house, is that its nimble, bouncy, cheeky... suggestive.. when theres a massive bashing hardtechno beat all the way through it it stops being ghetto and starts being... umm hard techno? Agree on all the ole 130bpmish dancemania stuff, shame most of the production was so poor, the last few dancemanias were awesome too, it was all speeded right up but still with that raw 808 funk in there . . .a more recent must have (must be a few years old by now tho) was on NES records, by Bitch Ass Darius. Absolutely rufff, pure booty, but with ingenius use of samples including bootified cuts from milli vanilli, steve winwood and even chas n dave!!! sounds cheesy, but its actually wicked, all the afore mentioned samples are totally in context and you hardly realise what they actually are. .
Chan N Mikes Cheerleader Joint would count to me in this type fo sound.
I can't remember the last time I heard the name Steve Winwood.
Steve Winwood's the man!
in negotiaitons with a few of the chi-town crew now, working out licenseing etc :cheese:Quote:

interesting ;) so i was always in the thought that dj funk, slugo, urban, godfather... all those cats and stuff like this was booty NOT ghetto tech and ghetto tech was the high breed of this?
now im seriously confused!
yeah something like that  as along as its dirty with dat bouncey simplistic feel im all good
ghetto tech is more of that dj godfather and ass n t*tties genre stuff
all that dance mania and uc stuff is basically jackin chitown material straight up
 it was a bit over the top sorry. bad hangover this morning and no one at home to take it out on :lol:Quote:

i guess that told me then, **** what do i know really anyways, i know what i like and thats about it. i like this shit and i think its gonna get more popular by that i think then alot more people are gonna get on the band wagon but **** it thats wicked if you ask me, its a great sound in my book and it works for me. :cheese:
mind you though i wouldnt say ignition technition was ghetto tech, if so, so is mike humphries and john knuckles... wouldnt they?Quote:

It's fair to say Punish has a small role in that side of things too with the sexual conotations and hard rawness that alot of the early Punish records had to them.
It really isnt a side of techno that will get swept up and rinsed out like schranz or minimal or something, there is always something too niche about it and certainly over here in the UK and Europe, in the more "mainstream" techno clubs whole sets of this stuff dont always go down well, unless the Dj is of exceptional skills like Dj Godfather or someone similiar. Deeon is supposed to be unbelievable on the decks too, alot of energy and flair is needed when this is your sole sound as for the average all round techno bod, 2 hours of "bang that ass" does wear somewhat thin.
So i dont think anyone needs to worry about it getting overdone, and on the flipside i wouldnt be throwing all my eggs into one basket hoping the sound gets really big as i just dont see it happening.
Total devastation when the right dj drops the right track though. I used to love scratching and juggling with copies of "Tear Da Club up" and various other really raw early projex records. Deadly
Well, short story long, Rowland likes him some Chicago inspired techno. Amen.
PS...don't get your hopes about about Deeon either.
that's all that matters at the end of the day, go out, do you'r own thing, enjoy it to the max and hope the majority of the punters enjoy it too.Quote:

Hey Rowland... one of my favourite sets of yours is still that time ages ago in that old theatre in south london.... i think you were in a mood and you suddenly slammed in the original version of sir mix alot... "i like big butts...",literally threw down your headphones and stormed off swearing.. No word of a lie, that was wicked.. proper rock n roll and definately the highlight of the party for me
yup, but even "ghetto tech" as a term came about as a way to market "DETROIT BASS" to (mostly) white people outside detroitQuote:
