Its his personality.... To me, positive energy is infectious... And NEVER a bad thing.
I basically agree with Antonio on this.

I am the Antonio Johnny speaks of!
hahahahaha just downloaded the vid now   oh dear
haha....thats just rush though innit.......hes hilarious and one of the soundest djs ive ever spoken to........spoke to him for like 15 minutes in voodoo.....and yeah....he was hittin on me.......but I just laughed it off......his gayness shouldnt be an issue!
and yeah....he is promoting techno in a weird but wonderful way!
haha oh shit thats funny
whats up w/ that green velvet look haha
but hes always dressed like that!
atomic jam last year anyone??
he had THOSE boots on stage and sang live!!!
and it was quite possibly the best atmosphere ive ever experienced in a techno night!!
IN ALSO THE LAST JAM IN THE QUE CLUB!
Exactly, thats just Rush... he's always been like that and he's a legend for it
I hope none of you took my last post the wrong way, I love the guy... and last time he was here it was phenomenal.. people are still talking about it 2 1/2 years later :rambo:
And yeah Antonio, he's a tall beast... I'm 6'4 and he was towering over me... and even I think he's a sexy bastage
Considering they are both from Chicago I would think they came up with the idea together because they are mates and did work together on relief.Quote:

it's nothing like green velvet..
that's a lazy comparison
just because they're both black and from Chicago?
WTF?
this is very much a german thing, and watching that video makes me nostalgic of great parties in germany....
i like it..i think it rocks!
:!: :!: rush rules :!:

hehehe
Vid makes me want to move to Berlin, and I wouldn't say it's a lazy comparison because of the fact that they are or were friends and worked together way before the weird look stuff, my assessment is they came up with the concept together Rush has foam and Velvet has those tube looking chinese handcuff things.Quote:

thought the pictures included itself when you use the quotey function?
I read an Overload interview ( I think) where Rush said that was just the way he and his mates dressed and stuff. It just so happens Green Velvet was famous before Rush was so everyone thinks Rush has copied him..
i never really understood why green velvet got so popular...i personally never liked his stuff, but that doesnt matter...its not that charty-sounding, so i never quite figured why. guess because of lala land remixes mostly?
la la land? dude he had a shit load of successful music way before that
well i mean really popular...like when you could start finding green velvet cd's at people who normally only listened to the average shite .and i still cant understand why, cause he only played here once i think. may be wrong
Umm lololololololl
were talking about the guy who made the perculator for crying out loud.
you can go to a wedding and a barmitzvah and hear that song! :!: [/b]
yes exactly...waht i dont understand is HOW it bacame that popular...since it wasnt the usual catchy chart stuff was it?
guess what im trying to dig into is if his looks and appearance might have had something to do with it or not
Back then he wasnt dressed like that the music spoke for itself, all people wanted to do back then was jack their body, Nobody was on cubase worried about efx we just wanted to bump and grind ass in the club.
yeah i follow what you mean 100%. sorry, im just talking about my own experiences, i know its diffrent all over how things evolved. i wish id been more into techno back then too than i was, id be seeing it a lot diffrent. no point in takin that one further, and no disrespect to green velvet either :)

Was that dude Dj rush or was that his singer ? i think he is just a bit gay in that lol
wow. :shock:Quote:

True. I'm not a big Green Velvet fan, and I have *loads* of Rush records, but I generally considered Green Velvet to be the finished article in comparison to Rush from a production point of view...Quote:

cheers.
i second that.
How is it negative if he is expressing his art the way he sees fit with his vision. Not all of us share the same vision or have the same voice of expression that's for damn sure.Quote:

I would think the simpler the beat the more the masses would eat it up.Quote:

i think techno actually needs more shots of humor like this from time to time before it gets so serious (and no longer fun) that it completely disappears up its own ass. do we really want this music to become so serious that it becomes completely inaccessible except for the select few and therefore garner no more new recruits?

No problem. I think the post may just be referring to the fact he comes across with some camp/gay mannerisms in the video, just an observation on my part.
Yeah I'm sure that's what they're referring to, I just felt that they were saying it like it's a bad thing. Came across to me like "hurhur he's a faggot" :dontevengothere:Quote:

I can't believe that just because an established techno artist has made a "VIDEO" (Shock Horror, bang goes his underground credentials) it can provoke 6 pages of people banging on about it being such a bad thing (Admittedly, all of what's posted here is not all bad, but 6 pages over a video, c'mon)
I'm not saying it's something I'd do, but for christs sake, pull yer heads out of your arses, it's just a sodding video..
you lot must have REALLY boring jobs to continue banging on about it when at the end of the day it's neither here nor there.. Rush did a video, so what?
Get over it...
BTW: You've all done a really good job at letting everyone know there's a new DJ Rush video out, well done lads, nice work...
Fair play tho schlong for pullin im up over that, homophobia is a bit ignorant really...
ah c'mon, you've given your fair contribution to the thread too! Not everyone is complaining about it though, it's been a balanced arguement. I think many people are just saying if they like it or not, not if he should have done it. The video isn't great imo, although I just don't like the song... With with a big record company, snappier radio edit, and a push in the right places I could see this going top 10 pretty much anywhere.Quote:

that particular mix of that track (On the video) is the only one I've ever heard that I actually liked, and I don't think the video is that bad, I just think fair play...
it's just when people say "That's pathetic".. Why? Why is it pathetic? just sounds to me like spitting out a rhetoric that people have read in some interview with some techno artist somewhere about being "Underground"...
What is Underground anyway? working your ass off and never making any money cos your too COOL and UNDERGROUND to be into any of that shit..
I call that cutting off your nose to spite your face...
I respect people not liking it or whatever, but to call it "pathetic" is er well, pretty pathetic really...
Again, well done people, we're providing rush with some publicity, seeing as this thread is staying at the top
I'll be seeing Charlie in the week, I'll be telling him to push it to the hilt BTW...Quote:
