Seriously, I have no problem with people promoting and advertising. And it's not up to me to judge the artistic merits of the sigs (people will decide that for themselves), but I'm just making the point that really big obvious signatures make it a pain in the arse to use this forum when I'm in work. And I'm not the only one who feels that. So if it's possible, and not too much work, it would be great if Mark could give us the option to turn them off. That's reasonable innit ? Ain't bitching ? ;)

By the way, what is a Nunya ?

hey folks lets not ruin this board with petty squabbling, if you dont like peoples sigs then fair enough but don start mouthing of at everyone.I dont mind sigs (as you can tell) as long as they aint huge.

I agree that there should be a size restriction at the very least, if not an outright ban on them. Text only signatures would be preferrable.

Now this guy was the first person on the no signature side of it to post something constructive, and non offesive to other board members.

And anyway, why does something have to be oversimplified x 1000 for anyone to understand a point around here?? If people hadn't reacted badly initially then this ridiculous topic wouldn't have to be nearly 10 pages long, and people like Patrick wouldn't have to (repeatedly) process very simple messages into a discourse that can be understood by a child.
It was a simple request initially, to get rid of them - I maintain that I think that they look absolutely dire, but that's neither here nor there, but if a community (of 1000's of members, hundreds of thousands of posts, numerous forums, and loads of moderators) such as this can operate pretty smoothly then I don't see what the problem is in turns of simply giving us a choice to switch them on or off. is it unreasonable??
This topic would stop dead should this be enabled, then we could all stop wasting our time going round and round in circles and focus more on the music discussion.

Actually, going back and noticing which avatars/sigs I find annoying, they seem to belong to equally annoying individuals, so there seems to be a correlation there.

Those aren't negative comments, they are observations on the reality of what I see on this board. If you see those observations as being negative, it's because of the content of them, not the fact that I've illustrated them. As you seem to agree that my observations reflect things that are undesirable it would appear we have no dispute, and I'll pre-accept your apology for making your own observations without bothering to pay attention.

Glad someone’s brought this up actually. I certainly dont have a problem with the sigs (as long as the pics are the correct size for the page in minimum resolution). I dont care if they look good/bad or self promotion either. What I dont like is ones with loads of flash animations simply because some pcs cant handle them (mine included). Its not the download rate thats causing problems here as I am on broadband. Its how they affect the graphics and makes my pc sluggish. If I had more RAM this probably wouldn’t be a problem.

Best way I could describe this to you is, if say its a really short post and someone has both a flash animation for both their avatar and sig then it slows everything down and can be a bit annoying sometimes. Well thats my moan on this one although this is only the case with one or two members on here I still think its a bit unnecessary

did anyone know you can set it so you dont see pics on web pages somewhere in internet settings that i cant remember off the top of my head, so if anyones getting annoyed by them just turn the bloody things off, thats choice for you :rambo:

That does work, Dan, but it's a bit of an overkill as it turns off all avatars, emoticons and all the control buttons as well as images. It also still leaves boxes around where the images used to be. And it turns off all images in all browser sessions, which again won't be of any use to people using web based apps at work with images in them, cos they'll also disappear as well. Cheers for the suggestion anyway.

Can't help but notice but its most of the Trance based people that have the crappy looking huge graphic sigs. Kind of fitting i guess.....

Everyone should look at Fernando's sig and study it. Its class! Tiny type just giving a litte info. Now look at DJ Nunya's (To pick out one close.. but there are many).... That’s disgraceful..
