I agree with the antares. I recently installed it, and so far it's a mean machine.Quote:

I forgot to add....
a very simple and good clean filter plug in is the Blue Filter.... one of my favorites.
you can also find the electrix filter factory on ebay for about $150. juicy analog filter with midi capablities.
If u want a harsh filter - get the Sherman. You will stuggle to a "nice" sound out of it. Bear in mind though that it acts much better on an analogue signal...
Cheers everyone for the suggestions. Would love a sherman, but they seem a bit pricey, what does anybody make of the akai mfc42 filter?
i have the sherman and the akai
the sherman can really knock the shit out of sounds while the akai is a lot cleaner and not as harsh(u can get maddnes out of it though)
but they both have there place in the studio and my live setup too.
my advice...........get both when you have the money
Cheers for the info
try ohmforce 'Ohm my god', it has built in distortion and LFO, or the old Northpole filter thats quite sick too.
Nice one alex, the north pole filter is quite cool. What would you suggest if i was to purchase a hardware filter unit?
I used to have an Electrix Filter Factory a few years ago, that was ok, its the only hardware one ive used so i cant compare it to any others im afraid. Im sold to the ease of use and convenience of the software alternatives personally though.
Cheers for replying alex, found a wicked one yesterday that does the job okay. Gotta say Subsonix 3 is wicked! The production is very tight, fair play to ya!
Hardware - AKAI mfc42(24) Fantastic filter. Big knobs for you (heheh!)
The Alesis air fx filters aren't bad for the money 100gbp new
software, i use the filtrator., or the antares. The antares is very smooth.
Still waiting for a really nice filter plugin that doesn't do all singing and dancing stuff and consumes only small amounts of CPu.
Anyone?
I've been using one called the ArcDev duofilter. Its a rad dual filter (that u can chain) with distortion. The distrotion is absolutely crap but the filter is really fun because it has a crossfader between the two filters. And I think its free. I can't remember where I got it either.
Ah here we go http://st2n.com/daw/cgi/database/apd...en&num=298
Just have fun with cubase's filters.. tonic and stepper (if I remember the name correctly will blow u away..)

Cheers all, found a nice, harsh sounding filter and it is a plugin. Wicked results!

it sounds nice to me, most the psp stuff is solid
yeah nitro is nice...
how about digital filters?
any hardware equivalents even exist?
I find it a headache to have to convert all my soft synth digital signals into analogue before plugging it into a hardware filter.
any suggestions?!
cheers ;)
You could always use a midi controller to control a vst. Might work out cheaper (& more versatile) than a dedicated hardware unit....Quote:
