Man that's seriously fu*ked up!
totally out of order.....
Not cool. If people want to make requests like that, they should get a jukebox and not Steve Lawler. As much as I may not enjoy prog, this is still improper.
whos steve lawler?????? one of our residents the infamous `dirty sanchez` is from mexico and judging by the way he acts every time he plays any where (fireing his gun at volume drops , ripping girls clothing off while mixing) this activity doesnt supprise me at all the man is an animal. all the smae though unluckly mr lawler i bet he was scared shitless
I saw him plaS\erbia (state of exit festival) and he was great... (well after 3 days on the go, no sleep and all, I thought he was great... ;) )
Wonder if it wasn't a bit of a misunderstanding...
really shit to be force to play with Bullies around you but mexican blokes can be very macho and touchy, maybe he rubbed them the wrong way???
Easily done if you don't speak spanish...
Anyway, well out of order :rambo:
Thats a bit harsh innit!! :nono:
damn yeah thats going too far, i've been to guadalajara (my moms hometown) and a lot of clubs are strict, but this is stupid
I was booked for a party once and turns out they were 90% hyppies, druids, and hairy unwashed bearded women....
Well they didn't like any of the techno I had to play... In fact they didn't like techno period and were getting very aggresive in wanting me to play Psytrance. I don't own a single Psytrance record and after about 3 or 4 tracks I was asked to leave in a very threatening way!!!!
-j
thats some ****ed up shit....thanks for the headsup
Poor sod, nobody should have to go through that. Makes you wonder why they booked a prog dj when they wanted a bit tech/trance :eh:
disgraceful, they really should check out what the dj play's before they book them

**** him. He probably spent his whole set preening himself and labouring over each EQ movement as if he were performing an important operation. The manager wanted a record played, and Lawler should have played it. He's lucky he got away as lightly. And as much as he says he won't return, I doubt they'd wanna book him again anyway
You might be right Sunil, we will never know...
Me think it's prob a bit of both, proud on both sides I mean...
Comes back to lack of understanding, different languages etc...
Still, would hate to be in that situation!
Heu... what am I saying?!?! I'd beg for somebody to force me to play!!! ;)
Maybe I could hijack a club and an audience... :rambo:
first of all whom is emmmm whats his name "steve lawlers" and second of all 160 bpm is really horrible OMG this is unacceptable hahaha
i think the story is exaggarated as the man spoke for himself so we dont really know what had happened there hehehe
so again ofcours its up to you what u play, its the vision of art its your basic right as a dj (artist) to be untouchable and crap like that but forreal if u deal with people u dont really know what to expect so like u travell a lot bounce shit at differ places than your hometown, u must be prepare for such "surprises" and i think the matter is be flexible as much as possible, make party go on and if people wanna here this so thats cool let em enjoy the party and spin shit, that say **** ya and note club in your special dj agenda under "nomore" category ;)
serves him right. i'm sure his jet-set dj attitude didn't help.
sunil for president. anyone who starts a thread with **** him is my hero.Quote:

I think I'd play gay disco upon request if I was payed as much as mr.Lawler...
i remember hearing once: hardhouse DJ lisa pin-up was asked to play at a garage club. she got 3 tracks in before she was kicked off. it really does amaze me how promoters can books DJs with little to no research into the genre they play :roll:Quote:

Bollocks, either do it for the art and don't get paid or do what The Man says. Them the rules.
i kind of agree with you, but there was no need for the force the bouncers usedQuote:
