i would say,
tunes that have a jumpy bassline, and are generally more happy
eg sexbusters - tuneboy?
not sure tho
Oh dear god.
listen to a Vortex Set of recent times
Nuff Said
I would definitely call that tune hardstyle tbh. Jumpstyle is hardstyle without the hard from wot ive heard. IMO its pantsQuote:

you just stand there waiting ages and ages for it to kick in and when it doesnt it leaves you with a feeling of emptiness. I can't imagine listening to more than 15 mins of the stuff personally without getting ratty and demanding some techno/hard trance be put on.
Louk
to give you an example si check out Babaorum records from france.

Where can I find audio clips? :?:
jumpstyle = hardstyle with no bassline
hit the nail on the head ;)Quote:

........ :o :o :o
Jumpstyle has been around longer than hardstyle as it came from French Techno.
It's more a kind of soft and slow hardcore with very simple melodies.
Listen to some samples here:

folks i have to disagree with the majority of you as i have grown to like JUMPSTYLE.... each to their own, i find it hard to believe that you think it has no bass & kicks maybe you arent listening to decent stuff  similar things have been said about certain hardstyle productions in the past!
As for nath what was wrong with the vortex set you heard??? i have heard vortex play jumpstyle live a few times & tbh the crowd have loved it. It doesnt matter what style a dj plays your always gonna have at least one person moaning about it  its each to their own i suppose!
maybe you really need to ask a jumpstyle dj to describe jumpstyle si as it wont get a fair desription from some ppl by the looks of it!!
if you remember 3/4 yrs ago comments like this were what ppl were saying about HARDSTYLE! ;) look at hardstyle now !!!
as louk said , it starts it seems to build up to a drop then just carry on going , very very boring , nearly dozed off at slammin when andy was playing it , i think i did actually cuz i went to sit down , wunt you mcing to andys set si ?
If you are talkin about slammin nye I'm hardly surprised.. the sound was so quiet everything sounded pretty aweful to be honest.. most jump style stuff is based around hard kicks that's why I like it but if you can't hear the bass cos the systems a load of junk then you are scuppered..& half of what I played nye was hardstyle anyway...
there are numerous influences in jumpstyle some is very techy with monotone kicks the babaorum stuff is pretty simple & usually pretty montone. you just have to find the decent stuff... I would certainly avoid almost all jump stuff made by hardstyle producers eg tuneboy as mentioned by someone as they are pretty much bandwagon jumpers...as someone pointed out jumpstyle has been around for 10 years in northern france & belgium... so can hardly be classed as the "b8stard offspring" of hardstyle..if you've listened to as much jump stuff as I have over the last couple of years you would realise that like ALL music there is some dire stuff & some great stuff.. you just have to search alittle further than the end of your nose to find it... it's taken a while but crowds are certainly taking to jumpstyle more & more in the uk over recent months..it'll be interesting seeing the comments ppl are making in 12 months time...
cool fair play
Louk
sorry about the old profile waiting for a new sign in name for the forum...obviously there aren't north events at lakota 1st sat of the month...
sorry to confuse..
yeah was bummed liek everyone was when they turn it down , made most of the djs sound poop , but did a good job keeping the spirits up.
i just find jumpstyle another thorn in the side finding good vinyl online , cuz they put it in the section of hardstyle most of the time , doubles up teh amount of tunes ya gotta listen to , i admit some of the melodies are catchy , just dont float my boat ,
only an opinion ,
So is a label like 59 Records hardstyle or jumpstyle? This is where I am confused. Early 59 Records were classed as hardstyle, yet the early releases are, as you say, all about the kicks and not the base. So has this 'jumpstyle' been around for a while?Quote:

This jumpstyle, although sounding from the name that it should be bouncy (IMO) I find quite dark and moody...
Id say 59 records is hardstyle.. Its just simple, industrial sounding hardstyle i suppose :eh:Quote:

I played a lot of darker harder stuff on sat at lakota cos of playing after hardcore djs..
I would say 59 would fit into the hardstyle category but then I'd say a lot of early stik stuff & some early clockwork stuff was hardstyle & surely seeing as hardstyle only seems to have existed for the "pioneers" for 3 or 4 years or at least since mixmag decided to write about it...then tunes from 96 & 97 couldn't possibly be hardstyle... haha
all these pidgeon holes are total commercial nonsense anyway purely designed to BRAND items to increase sales it's a money grabbers marketing ploy simple as..
Ah! The Mixmag hardstyle article...
was that the
HARDSTYLE THE BASTARD CHILD OF HARDCORE article????
that'll be the baby
hahah i remember the one
anyway i'll have 1 set of hardstyles finest bastard child in may please!!
Jumpstyle has been around for years. This is a wee clip of a Jumpstyle choon (Just released):
http://data.recess.nl/audio/S/C/scan...787fdfc55355f2
Whats that tune? Thats ok...
si if you listen to decent jumpstyle on a ****ing kicking system it sounds really good! imo
Mate, country and western sounds phat on a good rig! ;)
lmao i wouldnt go that bloody far, but you have to give jumpstyle an opportunity other than on pc speakers!! ;)
ha ha! I'm rippin' ya mate. I'm up for giving anything a listen to. This thread isn't a diss towards jumpstyle, I just want to know what the deal is with it & where it came from. Trying to find out a bit more about it. Like I said, it seems like hardstyle. Some bits sound ok & there seems to be a lot of crap as well.
after reading that again , sounded like i was ripping andy !!!! :shock:Quote:

NEVER THOUGHT YOU WAS FELLA... & as I said I played about 4 tracks that were jump new years the rest was either hard style, hard trance & the odd techno tune... the system made prod & scorps set sound like it had a load of weak kicks in so I had no chance really... I spent about 2 hrs that night arguing with the council guy who kept turning the sytem down... It's soul destroying when you have to play on pants systems esp nye...
Yea, that sucked NYE when we had to turn it down...
Scorps & Producer played a blinder as well. Best tape on the techno & trance pack IMO...
phew , yeah was gutting but had as good a time as we could of eh.Quote:

Due to what Jumpstyle is, to me it seems necessary for the system to be top notch.
At Inqontrol jocks were mixing it in with hardstyle and the tunes sounded very very good, eg the Cranberry's rip that Luna plays, could be classed as cheesy but my god the kicks in it were so powerful over that system that you couldn't help but be effected by it.
As for the system on NYE, yeah that was pants, ****ing council. As i've suggested before get that room that Dreamscape used for the techno room in the last event they did there in summer 98, that was one of the best nights of my life

if anybody in this topic has influence on Discogs .com help me get the 'new style ticket' for jumpstyle submitted !
(cause I'm getting sick of jumpstyle vinyls being labeled as hardstyle!!)
