Ah do stop it, it's not a football league. It's music not a competition.
Nah, its not on! Thats not how music should work. Honest opinions are of value, not self-gain.
But at the end of the day, people aren't gonna stop the annoying habit of self promotion no matter what. Forget about the concept of competition, and just listen to the music. It's not like anyone actually buys music they don't like because spazmo46 on blowyourowntrumpet.com says it's an 'essential purchase'
Well, take it as reminder to those who have!
You sound like you are affiliated with Kobayashi/Citizen etc half the time. :doh:Quote:

You could have goal difference worked out based on the amount of positive and negative bollocks chatted about them on the internet, and the champions each year would win an MTV video, a front-page writeup in mixmag and the right to charge 5 grand per set.Quote:

Nah!! You truly don't know me. For years now, I've been supporting what I think is the best. The music I support is something that I have a real care for, and feel genuinely moved by. If it let 3 or 4 people discover what I have, then guilty ! I'm sure there is a lot of people here who do the same, but there is a quite few who are doing things for their own advantage.
Well, there really is no avoiding that, you have to stand by what you believe in. But I haven`t spotted any spamming or veiled promotion in here.
Music league tables?Quote:

Promotion goes in the promotion section, other than that, I have no idea.
Loop people to loop and a sub genre of techno artist to a sub genre of techno. Not saying all the loop or all the sub genre people do this but some do it shamelessly. Nothing wrong with little bit more honesty.
right ohQuote:

Sorry I forgot to mention. I don't care (dets and your opinion)
Back to the subject stop being blatanly support things selfishly when its very biased and obvious of what you do musically. I don't know how some of you got the cheeck thats all.
haha...yeah sure, if you care to listen and promise to stay civil...Quote:

on the other hand, there are people (you for one, me for another) who write about specific music, artists, or styles because that's what they are into. some people are more specific about it than others. if someone talks about how they love, for example, swedish-style techno, and they happen to make it (because they love it), i don't think that necessarily means they are promoting themselves. but it easily could. i'm really not sure where mark and steve should draw that line, though i know it would bother me if someone came on the board and constantly posted about how great he/she was or how everyone should buy his/her record.
as for why you posted this thread...do you have any specific examples to share?
nothing wrong with self promotion, if we didn't do it we wouldn't get anywhere in life.
Aye, there's nowt wrong with self promotion but as stated, in the correct forum. Blatant hijacking of threads pushing your own sound or club night :dontevengothere:
mind if i post a droid flyer in here?
haha
so ur saying those who are trying to make it as artists shouldnt promote themselves when they have a chance? do u think ur beloved Hacker, Vitalic etc etc never posted about themselves somewhere or promoted themselves in some way? if anyone is going on about something too much dude its you with all the French talk....
unless ur going to name who u thinks being a bit over zealous with the self promotion then stop banging on about it
seriously, unless u name the person then the thread is totally pointless
and of course ur going to promote what u do musically or anything ur associated with, thats the whole friggin point of it!!!  ;)
pushing your sound on other peeps is part of what its about.
so don't support things that match your tastes & preferences.Quote:
