hmmm... well if there all the same they must all be good, because i like the ones i have purchased.
so who would you include in this anyways? joel mull? for a while, his songs stood out through their use of melodies. cari lekebusch? he's never sounded like any of the other swedes from that group...alexi delano? again, completely different. the svek guys? minimal and house...not applicable.Quote:

i agree that a lot of the records from that period are throwaways (countdown 2000 anyone?). but it's also a mistake to say all the swedes from that group.
besides, as americans, we should naturally fear mctechno more... ;)
lol ikeatechno and mctechno
spanish sound :?:
oh god, I bit  ---------->>>
I got some lovely stuff by bacto, henrik, beyer and mull. Solid dancefloor stuff, some nice journey techno, some dark stuff.
Maybe it`s a bit samey now, but they did their bit.
they did do their bit. well said.

back in those days, filesharing wasn't that big but now i suppose just about everybody has say the no kick series etc.
i have rediscovered so many loops i have on my hdd or cds in (famous) tunes it can be astonishing. this is a good situation for us as we can't get away with shit like that anymore, hehe.
coming to think about d'n'b which has centered around 1 well known break a great deal.... now that's really formulaistic ;)
of course, i am born swedish, raised american, i guess i should fear/embrace both...Quote:

And if you look at it sideways its almost looks like he shape of someone giving the finger.
it also kind of looks like an absolut bottle...absolut, ikea...very appropriate since we are discussing the damn-near-colonial swedish marketing prowess...

and now...for my triumphant 1000th post...
...drum roll...
...JEFF MILLS!
:wtf:
kind of a generalizing statement. sort of like calling all american techno detroit techno, in a way. i feel what you're saying (and even to this extent i don't really agree with you) is not entirely representative of swedish techno.Quote:

Rumour has it that surgeon and regis have them locked up in their basement in their lovers palace, and in fact 2 unlimited write and produce all their music.

check it.
ace, man. i knew i liked canada for a reason...
...besides, few people are aware of the massive influence mentos had on the development of hard techno...and in particular, on swedish producers like adam beyer. it is said that this form of sample-based nordic techno is only possible under the freshest of circumstances...

What a totally unproductive, insecure thread.....

I totally agree with you Johnny
I'm a fan of swedish music and I have to disagree with you deafmosaic. I find alot of your topics and posts unproductive and disrespectful. If you don't have anything nice to say about music, don't say anything at all. Sure everyone has there own taste in music, but what you said here was rude.
:eh:
Why is there so much beef round here lately.
Every internet forum has this problem, I think it's natural.Quote:

I MEAN SERIOUSLY, 15 PAGES ON THE REGIS SUX THREAD?!?!
anyway my asking for miles discography was meant to show the fact that him saying my music was crap has nothing to do with opinions on beyer, anyway do go on all. and btw, beyer still sux. :rambo:

i gotta say, i'm much more inclined to think glenn knows what he's talking about here than you, seeing as how he has a history with adam and the other swedes at the very time in question, and you do not.Quote:

that's talking mainly about percussive loops wich surely made alot of that sound ....
i have tons of drumcode records...and what i hear is several similar types of songs, not necessarily the same loops. with that evidence, i am more inclined to believe glenn, who has insider knowledge, than take the word of a couple people who do not.
but again, like i said...put the links up, or cite specific records...if it's that obvious, i will change my tune on that one...though only as far as the drumcode goes.
besides, what is implied here is that the entire body of work by swedish producers of that era can be boiled down to a conga loop, and that's just not true. maybe that's where the pisstake comes in...hope so, cuz it's a pretty daft statement if meant seriously. in how many tracks did cari lekebusch use ANY tribal loops? cari was been one of the most innovative and different producers of the mid-to-late 1990s, and his stuff just ain't tribal at all. his sh*t from those days is lightyears more innovative than virtually anything in hard techno today.
and for adam, what conga loop did he use in his records on svek or loop or rotation from that era?
what about alexi delano or jasper dahlback, who were making techno records at the time? were they using this master loop? hard to argue that one...
