aim hi check ebay go for a djm 600 simple to use you will be around the efx sharpish I got a droped off a lorry one off off ebay for 300 quid
get a x:32 or a second hand mk1 x:one62...
allen & heath mixers ooze quality...

You'd defo get a x:one32...and u'd find a really old style mk1 x:one62 for that I reckon, if not a newer version with the slimmer knobs if someone was selling desperate...
Now the x:one92 is out, that's the one everyone wants even more!!
i'd still recommend the ecler, never liked the corssfaders on allen and heath mixers.
i also wouldnt recommend pioner djm mixers for him, eve though i like them, he wants something without too many knobs and settings

Agreed, I DONT like using the Allen and Heath mixers, those bloody volume faders take around 4 days to reach the end of their travel.Quote:

allen heath are kings of the mixer world, doesnt really get much better, makes the djm feel like a kids toy
i like both but there's no denying the Allen Heaths are built to an extremely high quality and are a joy to mix on
I aint doubting the quality, what i doubt is the layout of the mixer, the size of the buttons on there, the fader travel... 100mm UP faders? Thats NOT right. True, they have the advantage of slightly better volume fading.Quote:

What you are forgetting is that Allen and Heath make studio consoles to an amazing standard, i'd kill for one personally. BUT, although they apply the same standard to the DJ mixer in terms of quality, it looks like they didnt make the physical design very intellgent. Also, the filters on the Allen and Heath are superb, but badly implemented. In fact its the same on the 600. GREAT filters, badly implemented. I mean - how ****nig hard is it to put an LFO AND a manual control. BUT NOOO, neither of these companies did it. Dont get me wrong, i know how to modulate a manual filter by hand......
And why on earth hasnt anyone botherd with parametric EQs yet?????

Paramteric is and EQ where you can select a frequency and choose to boost or attenuate.

im pretty oldskool, i dont particulary use many effects and as long as the mixer has 2 channels, a strong fader and eq im happy, and a couple of extra mm on the faders is the least of my worries when it comes to a mixer, id rather that than a mixer like the 600 which, altho being fun to use, does feel like its going to snap in ur hands at any minute
ive used both many and it just always comes out on top for me definately, i cant wait to get one
i'd say the reason no ones gotten into parametic eq's on their mixers yet because its alot more complicated for your average dj mixer, those who really dont understand it are happy with a 3 band eq, altho you and others may wish to boost and reduce certain frequencies in the mix im guessing that not enough people have even thought about it enough for it to fruition into a viable idea never mind a product
mixers are a personal thing, you cant tell someone what to use and what not to use, go to your local music store with a few of ur fave records and get them to give you a few demonstrations before you part with any money
try ecler like ppl have said, great qualiy mixer.
or djm-707, nothing to fancy on it, just great fader controls and pioneer quality

We've got an Ecler, and I'm not a big fan to be honest.
I don't like the way the PFL works.

well im getting it on the never never.
its for beat matching, and the mixer that i seem to be drawn towards is the Stanton 304
however i like the Denon DNX 300 aswell.
Vestax pcv 275 , ecler nuo2, pioneer djm 202, all round about the same price.
i realise its a personal choice. but m interested in your views . cheers
