Jumped to the top of my dj list after his set at ILT last November, 3 decks & a laptop made to look effortless. Best ive seen. Class producer as well, all of his lp's are worth buying, further design & into submission especially.
Yeah, his ILT set was absolute class... had the place jumpin!! Can't wait till he plays Glasgow soon :rambo:
he played with oliver ho at antiworld a few months back
great stuff!
i was expecting minimal loopy type things
and that is waht they played , but they kind of made it more banging somehow , great mixing skills
The triple whammy of Ruskin --> DJ Rush --> Pet Duo was particularly punishing.Quote:

I wouldn't go as far as calling him legendary with respect to his productions, but he's certainly a DJ who works very hard.
There's a nice mix on the Audio page at http://www.blueprintrecords.net/
I was at all those sets too :lol:Quote:

We need more stuff like that happening in the world.
Cant wait for it this year.
Only ever seen him dj once and he was wicked!
Played a two hour set of tribal loopy shit and half way through he went in to this banging electro broken beat shit for about 15 min's which was shit hot! When it came back in 4/4 it seemed even better than before!

Could do with seeing him again, really! Ain't seen him on many flyers lately?
How many shit's did i use in that sentance!
He is on at atomic jam in a couple of weeks & voodoo next month.
For me he's the best techno dj around. Ben Sims is better technically but Ruskin rules for his tune selection. You can always rely on him for a few choice classics in every set.
Far too many for a post about James Ruskin. ;)Quote:

i'm really digging his stuff, even i was not too much into him for last years,.,
He is one of the five best techno producers PERIOD.
he is one of the five best dj's PERIOD ;)
great producer, great dj
gotta say i love this guy: he takes chances with both his productions and in his dj sets. 90% of the time those chances have splendid results. truly one of techo's greatest.
no argument there.Quote:

James Ruskin played the best set I've ever seen in person at Limelight. Also the best set period at fuse 99.
yeah i prefer his albums, "Point 2" and "into submission" both get regular spins here, still awesome
if your still after that set i'll pm you a yousenditQuote:

I'm not sure he's as amazing as people are saying he is. Point 2 and Intosubmission have a few very good tunes as does Further design but they have a few bad ones as well. His Blueprint stuff is his best (other than the two albums on Tresor) but not as good as oliver ho's.
I think Solex is a very good tune (the remixes arent bad either) and his new tune on Sandwell District is good as well, however I cant help thinking he hasn't done a whole lot for a man who's been around as long as he has.
Any one got info on his OVR thing he's doing with Regis, I heard a mix type thing they did on LittleDetroit.net and I think they had a tune on Infrastructure recently although I wasnt mad on either of them, but sounds like an interesting combo!
Dj wise he's very good and Very handy on the 3 decks but In my book he's defintely not a Legend.

Thats very true, tunes like paranoia, detached and confession arent really made by anyone else but Ruskin and deserve alot of respect but I guess I just dont think he's made enough of them.
Yeah, I hear ya. It has something to do with the fact that he doesn't release alot of records, compared to his 'colleagues' like Oliver Ho and Surgeon. Especially Oliver Ho...he can't be stopped; he even releases music under different names.Quote:

ruskin is one of those people for whom i'm constantly pissed that he's not releasing enough material -- and simultaneously glad he doesn't.
he's also someone whose productions always grow on me. i like them a lot to begin with but even more as time goes by. especially the albums.
and i wish he would come to the states. but that goes without saying.
i don't mean to slag you but that statement is so subjective it hurts.Quote:
