the piano has been around for long time now, and from its making, is still being used in the most up to the date music.
do you love them? hate them? or maybe you are just thinking they are ok

well when used properly any sound can sound good. i really liked a joris voorn track a while back that had a piano in it.
as for piano's in hard techno imho i think you've have to really distort the hell out of it to make a piano sound good.
it would be quite hard to make a piano line fit in hard techno and it's probably why it's not done all that often.
i like the andrew mclauchlan love story track.
usually i wouldnt go for a happy piano riff! but as Mark said, once used properly it can definatley sound good.
heres an example of a good one
The Youngsters - Spanish Harlem

Anyway pianos
As mark says any sound can sound good if you make it that way or use it in the right context.
re rub 2 from ben long was a bit of a snake pit vibe too. it even have the deck stopping
I have this great rercord by NSI called Max Binski, tis a minimal approach but in the faddy sense. Anyway, it's really damn good, has nice jazz feel to it.
anyhoo...
Mark EG has it wrong. Pianos sound great in techno and you don't have to distort them.
Pianos and other such sounds should be used more often.
love it
1992, hands in the air! top one, nice one, get sorted.

And yes I do like pianos if used properly. Especially love some piano with distortion and a bit of verb on it for osme dirty dirty.
vst plugin pianos are way better than the real ones.
