Mackie HR824 i think is the name!!!
Got some Alesis Monitor 2 passive speakers. 150 Watt Sinus, cost around 749 Euro new.
What I´m noticing though is that with extremely loud monitors such as these, you tend to turn up the stereo too much when mastering. You gotta keep the volume down when mastering, and if you cant hear a certaint instrument clearly enough, then don´t turn up the stereo (wich is almost impossible to resist  ) but turn up that cannel. Gets a little complicated when that channel already is up to the max (tend to get that problem....) Another thing about the Alesis is they go really really deep. Some like it, some don´t, sometimes it can be confusing.
if you want to spend a lot for quality look into some dynaudio's.
mark, this mackies are 800$ each??
i have limited budget, about 1000 euros, maybe u can recommend something in that price class?
get the 624's then you can pick em up second hand on the sound on sound website for aboot £600 - be well worth it!!
For that price you should try out KRK V6's. I think these kick ass but i'm with Mark about the Mackie 824's being the DADDY. I use Soundcraft Absolute Zero's which have done me OK for 5 years (and annoyed the guy next door) but i'm saving the the 824's.

scott brown, breezy, and most of the nukulaz boys have just shifted from dyneaudio speakers to the k-roks. Gotta be something right with them if you can mix down top 40 trance release's on them.
on that budget i agree with mr jim fish.. look towards the 624's mate :)
thank u guyz zzoo much!! :)
ive just bought some hr624's.... £800 a pair, but definately worth every last penny.
i dont like the mackies , the sound hyped .
dynaudio accoustic BM6a actives would be my pick .
but $$$!!!!
Uhh... my Spirits Absolute Zero (300 Euro's) work just fine. :D
spirit absolute zero
i'm using spirit absolute 2. they are ok for me but if you can afford to buy active montiors (spirit, mackie, genelec, dynaudio,...) then don't hesitate.
what`s the difference between active and passive monitors?
Active monitors basically have amps built in....
and as the amp is built with the speakers they are perfectly tuned to the drivers power needs....
so if i buy mackies then i dont need amp
indeed you dont...
how did u make this avatar? put your face on the scanner? :)
I did it ages ago, peein about in photoshop...
i did it cos i hate all those real cheddar pics that most people use for thier biogs...i wanted somthing a bit wierd, not some mood lit wank fodder...
i did myself on my own too LOL !!!
in paint brush hahahaha
keep things simple i say
Any1 can reference or coment on the HHB Circule range (3 and 5 I think)??
How do these match against Absolute 0 or Monitor 1 MKII??
Thanks in advance,
Z
I've got HHB Circle 5 A's (active) and I've had them for 1 1/2 years now...
When I was buying I tested them against the Mackie 824's, M1's, some smaller Genelics, and various other monitors.. and I rated the Circles over them all!! No added colour or warmth (mackies seemed like they warmed up heavy basses) and others didn't have the depth...
Speakers are obviously pretty personal, but these come highly recommended!!
what about ALESIS one Mk2 new active monitors. i heard they re good.
if someone knows what established producers use, maybe i can judge by the sound they make, cause there is no way i can test monitors, simply cause there are no any in my country. i ll have to either order them or go in austria to get em.
thankz methodixxx!

hey miromiric i heard that alesis I mk2 were good aswell, and also they are good for there price
I'm also looking for monitors aswell
Can some one tell me about Genelec's ???
are they really expensive
oh i'm from australia, so could you tell me in pounds or us
thanks
i'd say about 800 USD for the pair mate.
Did anyone hear the new Event TR-8?
The specs look nice + they're pretty cheap too!
quality, thanks Adverse :D
Adverse do you know if they are good in sound quality ??
too deep, too high etc....???
i don't have a pair but my friend out in the us has just bought a pair and he's loving them for any purpose... he says speak truth into mixes. personally if i was looking at genelecs i'd take the extra cash and buy me a mackie 624 set. nothing but wonderful.
Yeah, we had some 824's and 1032A's doing a/b testing in the studio at the weekend and I can the Mackie 824's sounded quite lovely, remarkably similar to the Genelec's in fact which cost about twice as much.
Also proved that the problem in the other studio was the converters in a Yamaha digital desk and not the speakers after all. Avoid cheap digital desks!
Baz
PS. Anyone want a cheap digital desk?
Adverse thanks and you to Basil Rush for the input, much appricated.
i'm gonna go checkout the makie 624's as soon as i get time off work hehe
