Important Idea... any one who cares about music read!

I have sent this to Mark Eg and was going to wait for his opinion before suggesting this idea to everyone on here as Mark has had more yearly musical experience than I have in living years on this planet. This is an idea for everyone who wants to be involved with something positive and that is something much more than posting amusing pirate sayings and new track names and opinions (not that I like those posts! 300 posts of mine are mostly just that!)

Read on below, I don't care if you think this is the worst idea ever or the best idea ever... what I am sure about is that if you we give it a try I think I know a delagation system (similar in premis to what bastard managers use to wiggle out of doing any work in a job place) which will activily mean everyone has a part, influence, decision, say, touch, hint and collective democratic vote in some elements to stockpiling ideas and sounds which will the after a certain amount of time will be a hoard of potential production gems and original or reinvented sounds that we can filter through and offer the to the most experienced producer out of the group to assemble and create in a producion package.

Why? Cause it's vaulable experience for anyone who wishes to have a partial education in to track manufaction science as the DIY approach is too complex for the ideas/sound you want to develop. each of us who are eager to go somewhere with producing but are stuck probably have strong ideas or know what to do in some areas but are undevloped in othres... I'm hoping that if we all commit to job of working on a million small parts to a track there will be collective thinking approach to selecting the right formula to create a sound that the german's and the italians will be saying "it's the english that are leading the way at the moment..."

I wouldn't mind some sort of group chat meeting quite soon (over net) to putting effort in us all working to produce a single track over 2003 with you perhaps guiding us(as I know your a busy man! :) Ok, so not everyone will be able to contribute at same levels as others but as long as we work out some system of agreeing/voting on how a track should be layed out, sound, melody composed, sample managed etc... we can break it up in to teams who concentrate on different elements of the track and after 6 months of loops and files have accumulated, we could all put a vote in for top 5 in each area that we wish to be used in creating our track. It gives us a chance to give a breath of fresh air to the hard trance underground, help create something original, something truly positive and cool for the forum crew to focus on and achieve and hopefully to help give the UK a better name in the trance production world! I'd be happy to lead this and just soley adminstrate and talk to people on the board on what production talent they have (and in what area) so track elements can be delegated. Each month we could review each others progress too prevent something which is completely crap or musically going the wrong way, and also to monitor and keep people from agreeing to participate and then doing bugger all. Anybody can agree to do a job and then do bugger all, even a dead person. This could be done for the techno forum too! I know there are obvious disadvantages in collective working on something (which is most obviously going to be all agreeing on a same thing) but I think the potential of a group of music lovers minds that so far has not had the confidence or complete talent to move on the producing world, is a powerful one.

Example...

One of the groups is made up of 3 people who unfortunately live 400 miles away are given the task of collecting samples which could be used for a kick or bass.... let's say there called person A, B and C.

A. has loved music for years and has keen knowledge of music... a diehard clubber.

B. is a DJ or someone who can mix and has knowledge of music on a mixing level and clubber level.

C. is a amature producer who is still learning.

in a month if they spend half hour a day at the minimum in doing everything they can to collect or create samples that could be or have been edited, manipulated or forged to offer a unique bass or kick we may unearth some of the most original and different sounding tunes... whether Mr C has tinkerd with some rack producing equipment and a keyboard and out of 100 attempts manages to create one super warped bass line or perhaps person A records the sound of himself hitting a hammer against a burnt out car and get's lucky ****ing around with it in sound forge (whatever) the possibility of discovering or trying something that nobody else has covered is most likely to be achieved by us through the chance or accident... only the best producers in the world can elmulate what they create in there head in a music program on a computer as near as damn it how it sounded in there mind. Perfect music production would be a cable that can download the track as you think how it perfectly sounds. Reality music production is to convert an audio imagination in to a audiable capacity through technology or instruments or composing, it's shame our vocal cords aren't 100Watt Speakers... (what a twisted thought!) What I'm suggesting is ten times harder to communicate we want (as we are not pyschic or perfert producers), but surely ten times more creative in potential? taking bits which we all like from many minds to assemble and trying to describe with technology to each other differnt musical idea's which ends in a way to transmit a whole pile of ideas in to a filter for what we like to be left with a new sound, our sound. **** me, is that hard to read and to make heads or tails out of.

Style of music... well... we could try and bridge the gap between techno and hard trance, a loop changes like melody throughout the track with a constant beat that is intermixable between hard style and techno, Or just mutate hard trance to our own image, or try to get the track to invoke an emotion... agression, fear, happiness who knows.

Perhaps if we are sucessful and produce something great we could offer it to be remixed by one top italian talent and one top german talents... imagine a result of...

I am really sorry for writing so much bollocks but I really think I could get this to work and with you showing a strong interest in guiding or endorsing it would give others on the forum self belief and insight that this isn't one of those good ideas that are good in the clouds and dream world where all birds tits can produce stella at a nice chilled temperature and give you a blow job while your sit back and sip your pint, but serious chance to be a real part of something I feel I was born to do, which is to find a way to expand peoples thoughts and idea's and happiness through the appreciation of something that is so simple yet so complex in music, and bring it the rest of our underground family of clubbers on the dance floors as a DJ.

I know it's a lot to read, but I'm mad about making this work and I'm happy to take in any points of problems or suggestions. I remember when I first was asked to play in a club, it was after 8 months of owning decks and a lot practice. I nearly turned it down out of fear or probably not having the talent and geuinely asking myself "am I really cut out to do this?" I went home, still thinking what if I make a mistake, what if I miss my cue, what if? - I went home and mixed for an hour and to physically remind myself I can actually mix which did help a little, but it was the thought of how I would feel the day after I say no, which we all realise at the time of this feeling and usually have a friend who says "I told you so", I would regret it massively afterwards or in the club while seeing my mates mixing will make me realise that I'm running away from pressure of doing something without room for **** up. Sort of like that first line to impress a bird you have fancied and think is perfect for you, but it can't be crap or unfunny and moodkilling, it has to work or you never dare try again as the humilation would be confidence murdering. I took my chance, relaxed and simply did what I knew I could do what I had been doing for 2 hours every day for months in my bedroom and it worked. So... going back a mile up the page, my point is that with out trying and being positive and logical to your approach then you will never now how far you can take yourself or help others take themselves.

I'm stapling my hands to my sides in ten minutes until next week as I'm hearing that the verb to Hakka is being added to the dictonary for the following meaning.

"to over explain, to go in to detail so much you cant remember what the begining was, to do what you did to that science experiement report section which was titled "Conclusion & What I have learnt" for your school class investigation which you just burnt bits of wood for on a bunsun burner until a small bonfire was created. (those were the days)

I think its a really good idea! Very interesting ideas and points from you Hakka.
But i do think there are some very knowlegable and wise people on this forum relating to Hard Trance.
So, i do think that some quality would be created(we know whats what and how to go about it). We all have good ideas about DJing and the production side so that helps. And i also think that some good ideas would come across from eveyone hence creating the perfect track. Just think all our ideas and thoughts put into one, sounds good.

The only problem is actually starting the group and getting it to work. If we pushed hard to do this( all of us putting effort in to make it work) i think it would be a very good experience for all of us. Something good could come out of it.

Fair play to Hakka for coming up with an excellent idea, just hope it works out. We need some more post yet to see what everyones thinking!

Thanks for feedback. I was really scared when I re-read what I had written incase people wouldn't take me seriously on this, but I am deadly serious and I hope that I am not being overconfident with this, but I think I could set up a working & fair system that would unify the power of our collective minds!

Once we have a few more people with comments, and of course Mark's feedback I will then get phone numbers of people and speak to you directly or I will do another huge explanation post.

Also my apologies for bad grammer/spelling in places... I was writing in quite a deep mood (not bad, but deep) and it just flowed from what I was thinking to hitting keys on keyboard, and at times it has made a mess.

I'm thinking of a new approach to a problem. The problem is producing the perfect track. It takes anyone or anypeoples three steps to achieve this.

1. Knowing what you want.
2. Knowing how to get what you want.
3. Getting what you want.

Now when Uberdruck made Bloody Slut, he had everything he needed. He is in perfect harmony with his creative side and technical side.

Now if we had Bloody Slut tune in our heads, I think the biggest problem is that there is no real working formula that can be tought to everyone which will work with same effect. It's exactly the same as a group of people all drawing an object in a room. We would all have completely different results but of the same thing is what we all drew to a degree of accuracy. Uberdruck is Van Gough with masterpices in creativity and craft and we are at Tony Hart level, basic but what is the maximum talent we currently have at that given time.

Imagine the same drawing, but instead of us all making one big effort in hope that someone will pull it off... we divide the whole thing we are drawing in to more basic elements which we would find easier to more accurately draw... and once we all finished combine them all to offer the exact same out come that Uberdruck was fortunate to of edcuated himself to do alone. Breaking down something to a level we can excell at to collectively put it together to reach levels of higher status that we can acheive individually.

there is a very easy way to do this... that i've done with a few people over the internet before. basically we use loops to make the track. ie we put loops together in acid until we're happy. then we sequence it in cubase. then everyone has a go at mixing down and mastering and we decide who's is the best mixdown.

basically we all start the ball rolling with a 4 beat kick drum. we all check each others kick drum out and vote which one we should use (and talk about why). then we all have a go at adding a bassline loop. everyone post their bassliner loop up and we again talk about it. and we keep going until we've done the whole track in loops!!!! then we all have a go at arranging!!!!

Hakka maybe you should think about creating some kind of table, or a set of rules for example... do this first, then this, then this, etc etc....

also---if we all put a little bit of money together we could get a serious remix of it push or somthin(just for example).
also, if all goes to plan we could make a pary out of the cutting, by inviting all forumeers to the pressing along with M8 mag. and getting a sweet article of it in m8........... :twisted:

ive been playin around in cool edit pro and com up with a pretty cool drum loop. but its only a trial version of edit pro so i cant save it as a wav file yet. i should be getting the full version today an hope to post the loop soon when ive sorted ftp.

Thats a niiiiiccceee idea, you know i was sitting playin on my PSone the other day and came acroos a tune that could be sampled to death, it is one hell of a choon, if this plan comes together, i hope you guys will take me up on this offer, talk about italian hardstyle this choon if corrected to the right format, would be a contender for choon of the year..

it's a very good idea.... perhaps we should create another forum or summit for this or perhaps get sinner to incorporate an interactive aspect to the site where we can comment quickly on a certain set of loops??? We'll definitely do it with a hard trance thing first. Hakka - get yourself on the ICQ. Jay + Sinner - do the same and we'll talk further and fine tune this.

And also what kind of input can people give into the project, who have'nt got any form of music programs to build a track/beat with?
I have a good idea for a sample, or lets say a base to work around for the track, if anyone is interested, i picked it up from a playstation game, and am thinkin it could be produced with the right input, to a right floorfiller/stomper!! If this project kicks off, i hope you guys would be interested!!

This is definately a good idea. I have written loads of trance breakdowns on keyboards for years, but could never afford the equipment to do something with it. One problem I have is the only Internet access I have is in the Internet cafe. So i don't know how I can contribute.
