philterkeyz
Type: resonant filter

http://scuzzphut.panicnow.net/Articles/plugins.html
http://www.djmarko.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/philterkeyz.zip
Features:
philterkeyz is a resonant filter plugin with a difference.
Filter cutoff is controlled by midi notes and the cutoff frequency is calculated to match the frequency of each note.
Try inserting it after a vsti playing a riff. Feed that same riff to the plugin and the filter provides an added dimension.
Alternatively, try inserting it after a long sweeping pad sound, then routing your midi keyboard to philterkeyz. Raise the resonance and you can play a filter line over the top of the pad.

Stepcomb is a stereo comb filter vst effect. The frequency of the comb filter is controlled by a step sequencer with pitch and octave. There is also a standard SV filter before the comb to control the sounds (which can sometimes be very brutal). There is a cv sequencer which can effect the comb pitch and/or the filter cutoff. A noise oscilator can be used to excite the signal and an HPF (postfilter) can remove unwanted bass frequencies. When processing a stereo track, the right comb can be offset by octaves or semitones. This plugin uses some parts from the forthcoming synth "groove modulator" such as the step sequencer, shuffle clock and the randomiser. The step sequencer section is designed to be transferable between projects so if youre synth needs a sequencer, grab the source files to stepcomb and copy and paste.

Analog Industries Filterizer
Type: Filter
http://www.analogindustries.com/mt/a...filterizer.gif
After messing up the step settings on Steinberg's StepFilter for the upteenth million time, I decided that there has to be a better way. Utilizing the Audio Damage DSP library, and spending an inordinate amount of company time, I came up with this little gadget, which fulfills the same functions as StepFilter, but is far more appropriate to my working environment.
Basically, it is a normal state-variable filter. The twist is that the filter frequency can be controlled by MIDI note number in addition to the normal knob-twisting action. You instansiate it as an insert effect (or send, if you feel daring), then assign a MIDI track to it the same way you would to, say, a VSTi or other MIDI-capable effect. You can then "play" the filter with your MIDI keyboard. After using it for a while, I added the "hang" button to the MIDI control section. If this is on, the filter stays at whatever the last MIDI note was. If it is off, the filter returns to the knob value as soon as the key is released. If you use it in this mode, you'll want to quantize the ends of the notes, as well, unless your timing is absolutely stellar.
If you have any questions about this plug-in, or ideas for features to improve it, drop me a line at chris@audiodamage.com and I'll endeavor to please. I have only tested it with Nuendo and Cubase on Windows and Macintosh. Your mileage may vary if you use a different host.

Quantum 64 is a harsh and aliased digital synth with single DCO
and multimode filter. It is inspired by Commodore 64's SID
soundchip but it definitely is no emulation. The two special
ingredients that make the soul of Quantum 64 are the arpeggiator
and the degrader/quantiser unit.

now some free comps and limiters 'n' stuff,
starting with
The Vanilla Compressor
The Vanilla Compressor is a general-purpose, stereo compressor plugin, with optional sidechain input. It can be used on individual instruments, across aux busses, or even as a mastering effect. Its fine-tuned, "smooth as buttah" sidechain and specialized release shapes make it equally at home with vocals, drums, guitars and full mixes. Use it sparingly for subtle, transparent "tightening"; or drive it hard and fast for deep, "balls-to-the-walls" pumping. Go ahead--try a little Vanilla!
Obviously, there isn't anything revolutionary about the Vanilla Compressor. This compressor isn't about bells and whistles; it's about getting the right sound, quickly and easily. And while there are many other compressor plugins to choose from, we hope that you will choose this one primarily for its sound and simplicity.
The Vanilla Compressor is currently in the alpha stage, and is free to download and evaluate. After development is completed, the final release can be purchased for $50 USD via the website.

Betabugs Audio Simple Squeeze
http://www.betabugsaudio.com/images/SimpleSqueeze.jpg
Simple Squeeze - This plug-in is the embodi-ment of the Betabugs design ethos. One knob! Auto gain make-up is present, and there is an always-on smooth brick-wall limiter at the end, just to make sure you never get any nasty digital clipping. The knob simultaneously controls threshold and gain, so that the more you crank it, the more squashed your signal gets.

you left out the best one GCOMP . visualized waveform makes it much easier...
http://www.chinaski.org/gvst/GCompBig.gif
GComp is a compressor designed for general mixing duties, i.e. it aims to transparently level-out the incoming signal to fit better into a mix. The GUI features a waveform display to show what is happening to the signal and to aid the configuration process. It can be used in mono or stereo configurations, with the GUI adapting accordingly. This plug-in introduces a small delay, and so is best used in hosts featuring PDC (Plug-in Delay Compensation).
http://www.chinaski.org/gvst/GComp.zip
i know that, jesus and this as an ongoing thread, quite a few others one could post ;) / glad you're participating
the reason i haven't tried the gcomp plugs is this
''This plug-in introduces a small delay, and so is best used in hosts featuring PDC (Plug-in Delay Compensation). ''
cos this kinda irritated me. if that's no problem in fruity, i will give the entire g.series a test, mate
there used to be a similar vst by tbl (thug of war compressor), but his page is down (and with it other nice plugs as a maximizer, 'tapestop' and so on).
if anyone would like the plugs or would even be willing to host them, just give me a shout :shifty:

George Yohng's W1 Limiter VST
No image here, because:
"W1 uses the plug-in host's default interface."
W1 Limiter is a clone of Waves L1, with identical output. :!: :!: :!:
I have not seen any Waves source code, and this result was obtained by tweaking 4Front YLimiter, by doing the following:
Release curve simplified
Release time multiplied 3 times (see notes below)
Softening circuit filter changed
Waves L1 famous limiter (and thus W1 - for compatibility reasons) uses three times longer actual release time than standard RT60 metric. This means that if you set 50ms release in the limiter, it will actually yield with 150ms standard RT60 release time.
Since this cloning could be done, you may have no doubt that in the future I'll provide you with a commercial limiter, that beats everything currently available (I have prototypes already).
How to check this limiter compatibility to L1?
Process the same sound with L1 and with this limiter, using the same threshold and release settings.
During measurement, check that both of the sounds are aligned properly. You can insert a single test peak in the beginning, and after processing - clip the sound, so that it starts exactly from the peak.
Subtract the results and see the residue.
Note, that you can't set sliders exactly to the same values on both limiters. 30ms release may mean actually 30.01234ms, so due to such minor differences, there will be small residue left.

Cyanide 2.0

Oh YEAH, baby.
At last I've found the time to update Cyanide :-).
This one has taken a long time with lot's of new features.
The shaper now updates while you drag it, there's a preview, the filters are MUCH better and smooth, the bugs in the bank/patch-saving are gone and there's some SERIOUS heavy-duty anti-aliasing.
Oh, and you can control everything but the shaper via midi too. Read the readme included...
If you like this one PLEASE donate something. It's been hard work re-coding this one like it should have been.
PS (loopdon): whack dat behind a 303 fer some
