    Default Still puzzled by Freshgrind...

Does anyone know how they managed to get Freshgrind written in what looks like varnish on the releases? I remember buying number 1 and thinking how the hell did they do that, and why isn't the sound quality affected. Anyone know? A sad question I know, but it puzzles me...

I didn't even realise there was another track on that side until about a month after I'd bought it, haha.

    Hmm...

I think Lawrie is doing summat different here. The old skool records were either picture discs (e.g. Lucky Spin, suburban Base special editions) or they were etched vinyl where if you hold it aginst the light, you see the picture (Rugged Vinyl, Tone Def etc)..

Too many came out them days to name 1 specific choooooooon tho!!
    Take me up the analogue....

I think the etching takes place at the cutting stage. It can`t happen at the pressing stage, cos all that happens is the soft vinyl is pumped into the press and then stamped by the stamper, therefore the stamper must have the pattern as well as the cut on it?

Nah, it can't have, because the Freshgrind writing would be pressed in to the vinyl. The actual Freshgrind writting looks like its varnished or something as its slightly raised. Maybe they stamp it on after the press & then cut it? :?:
