    mills @ fuse, sptember 2002

3h30 set ... from house to evil had techno, from dark stuff to disco .... one of the most eclectic set ive heard from the man, and an astonished crowd of teenagers discovring that mills doesnt spin only purpose maker, can be tight & flawless for over 3 hours on three decks , and that he can rock you with unexpected music

yeah--i also gotta say this one did it for me too. a great set and a great vibe really made for a night on that one.

and, yeah, that Ruskin set at Limelight was incredible as well (opening for surgeon, yeah?). while not the smoothest set in the world , the guy took a ton of risks so i overlooked it. plus, the track selection is probably one of the best i've heard in one set.

anyone who would ever accuse techno of being "meat head" i would have to just point that set out to them.

Oh yeah.. forgot to mention something about the Mills set I was talking about... he had the 909 damn cranking too! Dropped it into 2 records clean as a whistle... pressed stop on both tracks leaving just 909 action... continued to program bar by bar live and on the fly... and rocked it for quite a while... and I own the 909 he used too ;)

Jerome Hill @ the building next to the sea of fridges on Carpenters Road last year.
Adam Beyer at|Atomic Jam about 5 years ago. Like having someone hammer nails into your skull for two hours.
Dave Clarke at Pontins in Southport after I'd given up on him for being a dull twat and then he pulled out 2 hours of outrageous non stop (but danceable) turntablism.
James Ruskin most times I've seen him.
Ben Sims @ Lost Weekend Nottingham
D.A.V.E - too many great sets to pick one.
    Derrick Carter every time
    These go to eleven!!

I've seen loads of great sets but the two which stand out the most in my mind are,

Ellis D - Universe Sept 1992 - Never seen some many people loose it that much all at once.

Producer & Loftgroover - Martha's Swansea May 1994 - The producer blew it up, then loftgroover took the place to bits. Proper hands & knees stuff.

    chris lib @ tivoli dublin

first time chris played here. i was completly out of it and chris was makin a serious rackit!!! when all of a sudden he dropped "e's are workin".. i will NEVER forget that moment!!!!

but for pure class mixing... possibly zeb @ our old squat in hackney in '99... tiny little workshop area, sunday night after party.. bout 50/60 people... zeb rocked it and i had to play after him... shit myself and ended up playing some ****ed up stuff to try and continue with the magic... didn't work! just showed him up to be even better... still, was a rockin night!!!!
This is the end of days.

Seriously, we all thought we were gonna die and Mark brought it so hard and smooth. It was an absolutely flawless mix, which is insane considering there was rain falling onto the decks.
I saw that shit too! My tent was right next to the main tent and we ran in the main tent when the wind and rain started and mark eg messed us up! Great night considering 80kph winds. The weather set the mood and Mark took it from there.

    ahh yes producer....
i played with him at north once.
i was live and he was djing straight after me
as i was packing up he got going and i can truly say i have never heard hardcore mixed like that before (or since)
he gave it a rythm and a groove at 170 bpm !!!!!!
i suddenly realised that there are loads of crap hardcore djs and up until that point that was all i had heard, the producer put me straight.
perhaps not my biggest ever night , but one rave i'll never forget.
    love your mum
