it's always fun to jump on other genres for overdoing it with certain techniques. of course there are good producers doing creative things in most genres, but there are always copy cats who ruin it a couple of years later.
for example:
hard house tends to rely too much on snare rolls and hoovers,
epic trance tends to rely too much on string pads and chord progressions,
psy trance tends to rely too much on samples of tim and terence,
acid techno tends to rely too much on the 303,
idm tends to rely too much on distortion and reversed samples,
etc.
what about techno? personally, i'm starting to get pretty tired of high pass filter sweeps.
