Protools Control 24

I know ziltch about production, however I would like to one day, but I have been 'offered' Digidesign Protools Control 24 @ 2,000 pounds.

Is this expensive, it seems to be, and more so what can it do?

Excuse my lack of knowledge in this department please.

you'll need a protools rig to make it work, but 2 grand is pretty cheap ... it's a big thing though, i mean ... big!
