Default mpc - 60 your thoughts please....

I can't believe they're still sellin for about $2000 australian. You get a new mpc-1000 for about that price.
People keep talkin about the mpc-60 and it's unique character. Roger Linn is still upgrading software for it.

What's the deal here? Is it that good?

To be honest ive never heard one, but its supposed to have a 'sound' thats why people still keep on with them (same as the old emu's), it will be to do with the 12-bit sampling. I think the max memory is only 1.5 meg, so compare that to the MPC 1000's 128 meg, in fact the MPC 1000 will be probably be better in ever respect, it might have a sound that people like too.

I suppose if you want the authentic sound of a MPC 60, then thats the only way to go. Its a bit like saying would you rather have a 909 or a Machine drum, obviosly for true authenticity youd need the real thing, but the machine drum can do loads more stuff.

    Hope this helps a bit.
