Going off Trance?!?!?!

This happened to me about 6 months ago. I started mixing trance years ago, then i moved onto hardtrance & hardstyle, still mixingh a bit of trance and prog trance at the same time. However 6 montha ago i went to me first free party were they were playing anything from chunky tribal, dirtry breaks & filthy hard techno. Id allways mixed a bit of techno before this but i had never really properly got into it

After the party i listened to all my hardtrance/hardstyle tunes, they didnt sound the same. They all sounded formulaic & cheesy & unimaginative.

Sorry to dis the music your all into but I find its not my cuppa tea nemore. Some trance melodies are nice but its all a formula that has been used far far to many times. The music has no soul or funk or rhythm. I guess its good to stomp to, but for me it gets boring after listening to it for 15 mins or so.

every one is different though that was just me naturall evolution to a different sound. ;)

Nah man. Listened to a lot of genres but I have to say Trance is defo my favourite. I also have started listening to loads of other tghings but you can't beat trance.

what we need is some new dutch and german talent to create some new fresh sounds to bring hard trance and hardstyle back to life they both seem a little quiet at the moment.

yeah i look forward to any english quality i have yet to hear a producer from this coutry that producers real gud quality bangin tunes,any names of tunes of really bangin stuff from any of these wud be nice cheers ;)

mate, there's so many great styles. i'm a upset you're saying this, but also encourages me that you're really excited by different music. techno is really great music yeah, but so is hard trance. i spend half my life telling ppl about the great styles out there and tryin to get ppl into them :)

i know what you're saying, but the way i think of it is there's a time and place for everything. one day you'll have been sitting listening to the darkest electronica on the planet and hear some hard trance and it'll give you the biggest buzz ever.

whatever happens mate, just stay open minded and you can't go wrong :)

I feel u and mzone do play similar sets i see ur styles are different and some of the tunes u play are a different style to,both sets use to be based more on hard trance now lean more towards hardstyle is there any other sorta genre that will be comin from u and mzone any time soon now i dont mean the techno ur playin it was just funny because one set u where playin hard trance the next a new sound id never heard befor ie hardstyle is there anythin new comin from u men??? ;) just wonderin m8 lol!

yeah i think i've just opened up a bit more since as the hard trance scene is at a IMO all time low....

obviously if it picks up again, i'll be there with my money for the records but until then i'm buying techno and that!!

just keeping the hard trance chair warm with other stuff until it comes back with a bang ;)

Sorry to bring up an old post, but I'd just like to say that I'm in the same boat as you Corbz, except I'm not going off hard trance or any of the other styles I play, the only music I ever stopped playing was hard house but even that gets my ticker racing now and then.
Over the past year I've been so open minded about music that I've started getting into stuff I never thought I would, but techno is really flicking my bean at the moment, its soooo much more fun to mix, more of a challenge to mix well and its just relentless...
I love it :love:
I'll never leave Hard Trance tho it will always be my secret love
