    Default monitorspeakers/soundcards

ive just ordered myself a pair of monitor speakers to connect to my laptop for listining to my production work as i just use my headphones at the moment but im unsure about the connections. Im using reason to produce but im looking to get some hardware so il need to get a decent soundcard right?. Ive been told the monitor speakers connect to the sound card. Is this right and if it is/not right can u tell me exactly the way the connections are done. Now this setup is for the future so is there any soundcards which can be recommended?

best card??? hummm I think that's kind of a very bold statement...

Best card for what? Internal sounds, best converters, estability, number of I/Os...??

    Oh, right, suggestions.

RME Hammerfall. Pricy, but worth it.
