Default Orions Voice - Cockroaches - Scot project rmx

    Little review by myself,

imo a good tune. I like the overall vibe and sounds in this tune. Its scot project after all... But guys. U know im a big fan of him. Even tho the production (imo) is UNREAL. I cant help think he is struggling for ideas to take things forward. For ur standard fan of hard dance, then u probs wont notice?

But has it got to the point that even wat some mite say is one of the kings of hard trance, has become scared to stray from his sound too far (even at that, wat says he has to). He seems to be taking one step at a time with subtle changed here and there.

But as im a fan of him, and still cain his work... i still cant help think that there is nothing in this tune that has blown me away (and still in all honesty, not many peeps can even touch him, and that is wat worries me!!!). He used to make tunes dark and uplifting. Why not now? When was the last time u heard a filthy tune from scot proj?

What is goin on with that hard trance scene? When kings of the scene Scot project and Uberdruck (imo, no matter wat anyone says) are in all honesty struggling? Think about the last big release for u personally in the last 2 years from either producer. Can u feel the same vibe and sounds lurking in and around there new productions? Be honest.

Hmm, don't forget FM though, which is one of Frankie's best releases ever, not just lately. When that came out I had nearly given up on the thought of hearing a good Scot Project tune and that restored my faith.

Cockroaches is pretty dull, and not something i'll play but it's just fingers crossed to wait for the next big tune he produces. In the meantime you always have good ol' Jay Walker to fill his shoes!

    Some good points Paul!!

As I've said before I have never played ANY Uberdruck productions in any sets in the past and very rarely play any Scot Project trax either (even though FM was a quality tune).

This is no doubt one of my biggest down falls but the reason I don't play productions from the these prodution pioneers is because I know everyone else will be playing them. Now this means that I miss out on some quality tunage (even though I'm not an Uberdruck fan) but I hope I gain by playing sets that are different for anyone else.

Its is very rare that most producers can always keep a head of the game after being at the top after 5,6,7 or more years which means most of them will have a "Best before" date.

You just gotta decide when that date is otherwise it might start tasting rotten!!

My advice is that we should never put all our eggs in one basket by relying on certain labels and producers to float you boat year after year. We should always be checking the "youth team" to see whats coming through!!!

    Just my thoughts.

    Tim

I don't really get the criticism of Überdruck though..

The upcoming remix of Gladheadz - Drug addicted Psycho is sick, so is their remix of consistent circles by Wallstädt & Dorfler, the latest Toolboy release ain't bad at all either...

I personally think überdruck is on a really good roll these days.

Their production quality is getting better by the next all the way.

I trust in überdruck these days, but I do agree Cockroaches lacks somewhat Content-- Though I picked it up it's definitely nothing near his biggest productions.

i heard the preview of this a little while ago and thought it was class, just listened to it again and still think its a cool track although the preview i heard had this dark voice that said some words at the end of each of the main coachroach speech parts at the beggining that i thought sounded well cool as a little touch, but it seems that must of been a sample from the record shop site it was on at the time as its not there in the actual track.

i think its easy to put a tune down as being a bit boring somtimes when it isnt a full on stormer (i think i do it myself sometimes) but in the case of this track i think its more layed back approach is just the ticket, its tracks like this that help build a set and in the case of this track it'd allow you to add a almost seedy sounding twist to a set which i think is cool.

    i
Sequence is coming. It's going throughout your imagination. It takes you where you've been before. A higher state of mind. Yeah, you remember the early times. Now were trying to take you again. In the deepest seas of your consciousness.....Time never stops

Thats how i see it mate, no big massive riff, just simple touches, loads of stops and starts and imo good thought has went into the arrangement of the track.

After playin this tune a bit now i swear i rate it amongst the best of scot projects work. Like you say, lots of stops and starts and kinda keeps you guessin. Well impressed with this one

Only criticism is that it feels like your waiting for it to do somthing but it never quite gets there
