Default Hard techno and the neighbours...

My neighbours are cool about pounding bass - well they do play very loud christan soul and luckily a lot of funk of the less religous flavour. I've had alot of my mates say they most people would hate to live next to me.

I suppose I'm lucky - anybody else have it good or bad? gotta be some mad stories...

yeah my next door neighbours are really religious & shit like that, quite a barmy family to be honest where there all in bed by 10 & say prayers together!

anyways back to the topic.....i'd been to see freddy fresh play about a year ago & he give me a mix cd of his. i was listening to it the next night about 8.30 and i had it on low as **** coz me speakers were fukd anyway she knocked saying that "it was far to loud + it was the kids bed time, i didnt argue with her coz i was a bit puzzled by it, turned it off & went out.

in the 2 years that ive had my decks & even before then with cd's the only time that they have bothered to knock + the cherry on the cake was the kids of her's whose bedtime that she was going on about at 8.30 where 15 & 17 at the time.....Barmy barmy people

few years ago where i live i used to hammer it out till all hours. then the neighbours decided to lay a sprog and that put an end to noise after 7pm.
    fair enough like

when i was at uni in liverpool, had problems all the time. i lived above some goths who were moaning at me even if i put music on low during the day.right wankers they were.
got to the point were i couldnt give a **** anymore and got used to them hammering my floorboards with a brush everyday.

although you do need to respect your neighbours, they should respect you to and allow you to play your music at reasonable levels at certain parts of the day. some people are so ****in miserable tho,you just cant seem to reason!

I live between a Caribbean pub and a reggae club, both of which are either open and pumping out thumping sub bass or shut and completely empty, so I've never even had to consider what volume I play music at...
    These go to eleven!!

i have 5 flats neighbouring mine, and all the nieghbours say they dont really care about the music though they all can hear it.

the fact is that i try to play it not too loud, and not during the sleeping hours.

i feel quit elucky, once i pused the sound VERY loud during a party in my flat with 15 people screaming, and the next day i apologised to the closest neighbour and he told me "do it again when you want, i dont care" ahahhahah

Years ago I used to have a LOT of problems with the neighbors. I've learned to keep things at a decent volume and respect others. Once in a great while the volume will get out of hand, but I prefer to DJ in headphones anyway and when I am producing music the monitors are correctly placed so they don't have to be too loud.

My roommate on the other hand is very bad with the volume. He doesn't produce, but he DJs (very bad bitch house music btw) so he blasts the music loud all day at unnessecary levels. This is home, not a rave party. The neighbors are unhappy with him but they don't mind me.

I can hear the people next door urinate, so yeah, I'm pretty much fcuked when it comes to playing music loud. Apartment living sucks in this regard. I've only lived like this for a month or so but I'm looking forwards to the expiaration of the lease. The suburbs, house and distance between creates a buffer that saves a shite load of anxiety. I got back home last wekkend, pretty trashed, knowing I felt shite, which means I look like shite, and unfortunately entered a full elevator heading up to my floor...I thought I'd said hello, realised I hadn't but had the expression that I had, lost the plot, and hated everygod damn second of it.

It's so loud where i live anyway with the road, shops, pub etc that it's ok for playing tunes at a decent volume but I don't play too loud or too late at night as there are popel next door and below me. In fact my newish neighbours play fast bangin' cheese trance which I really dislike myself at all hours and they have been pissing all the neighbours off including me by playing it at silly hours all the time.
I'ma reasonable man and don't mind in the day/evening or sometimes if they have a party but most nights all nights and onwards into the morning so loud, especially as i gotta get up for work,a and so's everyone else in the buildings. I been woken by them and i'm 2 floors above them. The people next door aint happy and there's kids about and stuff so pretty inconsiderate I reckon. Not saying they shouldn't play it but maybe keep it down a bit at night?
It's interesting though cos I play pounding tunes but not with complete disregard for my neighbours, and in my younger years not working i pissed the neighbours off a few times....so what goes round comes around!

    Respect thy neighbour ;)

i never get to hear music at loud volume at home. i live in an upstairs flat, and i can hear the guy chatting downstairs clearly. i dread to think how he feels with all the hardcore lovemaking, furious arguments, and baby screaming coming from upstairs.

anyone have any suggestions/ideas/tips for soundproofing on a budget? when i say budget, i mean BUDGET.

yeah mate - if its downstairs you are worried about put in a false floor innit.. saw this on blue peter:

clear the room but leave the carpet down
chuck down some strips of 4x2 around the room tight up against the skirting board then some lenths across from one side to the other leaving about 2 ft between each. Cut some nogs to wedge between them - about 3 for each length and screw the whole lot togethor.
In all the gaps fill it with rockwool or on a budget get a SHITLOAD of newspaper and bunch it up very tightly into every little gap.
Get some manky old carpet and cut it into strips about 6" wide that run the length of the room. Double it over and lay it onto the 4x2 in your frame
oh i forgot to mention, if the door swings into the room you may have to rehang it on the other side of the door frame so it opens outward.
Then when youve got the frame down, covered with carpet and filled with whatever slap down some big sheets of plywood and screw em down tight. Then if you can get another crappy old carpet or some underlay stick it on top of it all and then a decent one top go on top of that. Should be able to do it all with eighty quid and a bit of skip-hunting and it'll stop the neighbours listening while you beat one out
    jimmah!
