    Default soundforge versus recycle question

    hey guys,

i have both programs but i got a quick question because im a bit torn between the two. I actually feel more comfortable using recycle cause its pretty straight forward for cutting up loops and dicing samples. Soundforge on the other hand is a much more deeper program and it kind of intimidates me. Just reading through the manual is kind of giving me a headache.

is there something about soundforge that completely murders recycle? cause all i do is slice loops. Everyone tells me that Soundforge is capable of recording audio, but i dont really sample all that much so i rarely use it. Soundforge is also DXi compatible meaning i am able to add effects to it, but majority of the time i dont use soundforge effects, i just chop the loops in recycle and bounce to audio in SX for effects.

Other than that, is there soemthing im missing about Soundforge? I feel very comfortable using recycle but i almost feel obligated to learn soundforge just cause everyones raving starck mad about the program.

    any helpful insights?

    cheers

They are very different types of programs. Soundforge is an all round audio editor that can do many many things... Recycle is really a specialist tool just for slicing and treating loops... both good programs, but if you're just looking at chopping up loops I'd go for Recycle.

if you just want to chop loops then recycle is fine , by the way you can chop up your loops inside sx so you really dont need recycle either .Soundforge is an excellent program i use it for most of my audio editing because i allways have done, and dont like the waveform display in wavelab , soundforge is well worth a play around with , i sometimes use it to make loops with like a synth (sort of , by using its tones generator and pitch shifting function ) plus i love those little grid lines and the fact you can make a loop and then shift it around a piece of audio using the left and right thingies ;)

this is probly very little help, but i mainly use Acid Pro 4 to make loop based linear techno dj tool tracks, i use it in conjunction with Sound Fprge 6.0 and its great. from normalizing a sampled loop from my hardware to treating an entire dj mix. its great. stable as foook & has never failed. me.

never used ReCycle but a friend who wroks with just reason swears by it for makin is own REX files.
