What should i look out for

can anyone tell me if there is any record labels or producers I should be checking out in the near future.

my style ranges from funky to hard techno. i do prefer a drop of the hard stuff tho.

i wanna get the edge on most of the people in my area.

er... I recommend you get a good record shop and go evey week - and make your mind up like everybody else.

And from your description it gives me no idea what labels/producers you currently like - funky and hard actually describes every techno record ever produced in somebodies mind.

i do tend to buy that i liked - i just wanted to info on stuff to look out from like up and coming producers etc etc.

and yes i do go record shopping often - i goto tempest in birmingham - its one of the best shops ive been to for techno - the people there are well versed in techno.

stuart thanks for the help - im gonna try and get down inukshuk soon - i love atomic jam but it isnt on as often enuff as i like.

i have a few pressings from pornographic and player.
i will keep my nose to the ground for the others.

i love the stuff liebling is putting out.

do you know of any newer artists i.e. unknowns i can look for funky or hard.

ill have to look for ya in inukshuk u sound like an interesting person to talk to.

I picked up a track not so long ago at Massive on a white label with royal written on it I think the artist was jack richard or something great track with some dark bassline in it.

Dirty Bass is always a good one. I haven't heard anything I don't like on that label.
Lars klein and Micheal Burkat I'm playing alot of at the moment too. Very clean production.

Sorry, man - wasn't meaning to be offensive just a pet hate - just get a bit passionate sometimes and definately too assertive.

I think Kiddaz and Killaz FM are preety damn fine for funkier and rawer warehouse tracks.

Projex/Digital Primate have been on a bit of a roll recently

Always worth picking up Hydraulix and Powertools - and sifting through 4x4 and Cluster stuff.

If you like the miami bass influenced stuff then there is alot of ghettotech stuff you might like from the likes of DJs Rush, Bam Bam, Godfather etc.

You might not like all of it but DjaxUp Beats releases alot of straight-up 4 to the floor tracks that devistate crowds.

Mark Hawkins - nuff said?

As for getting a jump on the other DJ round Birmingham - start using German websites such as nuloop or musichead.de - you'll find lots of b-sides and rarities that never make it past a few specialist UK stores such as trackheads. If you still want to buy locally you can have a quiet word at your record shop to order stuff in for you = musichead.de is particularly good for putting lists together if you print the contents your 'cart' but don't check out ;)



...and finally check out John Peels listings on bbc's radio section.
