What does everyone think are the biggest issues at the moment in techno? I know it quite a general question but it'd be nice to see what people think.

A few of Mine:
Radio 1 ie Fergie playing techno.
Makaton making the best double pack I've heard for ages.
God I could go on and on...
distribution: some records are so hard to get hold of. and if you pick up on them late then 99% of the time you have 0 chance of pickin them up!
The biggest thing in Techno is.......... KSS....... well it will be when our plan for would be world domination has been hatched.

Too many DJs complaining about the music, but not picking up equipment to do something about it.

what do you mean by housenation, cheesey housey stuff like umek and all that crap, or are you talking about good house/techno crossover tracks, say for example ricardo villalobos and maybe some of stewart walker`s tracks?
Ahh, right. Gotcha. There is a real blurring between genres at the moment. I really don't know where techno begins and ends, or where house begins and ends these days. I don't know if that's an issue for me though......I'm not that much of a purist anymore.Originally Posted by miromiric

well actually T itself doesnt have any issues at all. its just us who r bothered with some things.
and yes one other big issue for me - to less fully body stripers on techno parties. ouch!![]()

I would have to agree that there are to many subgenres to catagorise techno into...... some of these subgenres are even geographical in the country!
We have a number of dj's playing on our system and I would have to say I'd have a lot of trouble trying to identify different styles. I think we are moving towards the european attitude, if it's rocking then I'll enoy it, don't try and pigeon hole it - music is there to make you dance not to give you a puzzle!

not enough quality control.
too much dumbing down.
too many people who think "it's just dance music".
This Disussion is going on, in every discussion board in every Genre. Some people unfortunately capitalise on what sells records whilst others like to keep their sound true to what the public know their tunes to sound like.
Dj's like Judge Jules and Fergie will play what ever they deem to be popular or branch out into sounds that they think are doing it at that moment they have done it with Breaks and Techno. They obvioulsy read magazines like mix mag that write articles saying things like how popular techno is underground why does this music stay underground it should be up in the for front of the clubbing scene. Which is what and article in mix mag said last year sometime, (or words to that effect) then next thing you know you've got a club like Code in birmingham on radio one live doing the funky chicken to fergie playing techno?
What bugs me is if you put on a night with smoe of the best techno dj's in the country and flyer out side a club after fergie has played a set of techno the response your'll get from the crowd as they come out is "Oh I'm not going to a techno night"
Conlusion is they end up thinking that what Fergie has played is a new style of what he usually plays. These kids need educating.
Anyway! what is with that funky chicken thing don't they realise how rediculas they look.
Peace out

Yes, thanks a lot misters Smith and Selway !Originally Posted by miromiric
Even HMV had 2 display racks of this track, one original and one remix pack (Smith and Selway mix). This is 2 Unlimited for 2003. Every beer boy in every pub in every town is already giving it 'large' to this track. I even heard Chris 'fat knacker' Moyles bigging up this tune on his afternoon radio 1 show. Moyles thinking he's playing techno is a whole, whole, whole heap worse than even Fairgie or the Judge I reckon. A lot worse.
Actually, that's my issue of the moment! Radio 1, keep your corporate, bandwagon jumping, talentless, populist, thieving hands off our music ! You're not welcome ! Get back to flogging your paedophile pop like Spears and Tatu and fcuk right off!![]()
Err, rant over.![]()
Obviously I exclude John Peel, the legend, from my radio 1 rant. And Annie Nightingale.
