Yeh but they really are deep man! I mean I love trance, hence the name I gave myself, I'm always raving on to people about it, I drive my missus nuts coz I mix constantly, she feels like she's having a relationship with a pair of 1200's, I think maybe trance is a more easygoing genre.

yeah it is a little easier goin like, think cause its hard to find a rock unturned in trance if u see wat im gettin at (widespread). In techno tho its like a different world, and they dont wont outsiders goin into it.

And i think with techno, u have to put a lot of effort into gettin information about the scene, whereas trance, every tom dick and harry is clued up on it.

Not true, my friend, all are welcome. Have you had some experience of being made to feel unwelcome sometime ? I've always found techno people to be a very open minded and accepting group, so maybe you are judging on a bad experience you had ?

It's probably the way we all stand around in our anoraks with our notebooks out, stroking our chins. It can be a bit off putting I suppose. Ha ha.

i think this is true because i like techno a lot, i mean i get trance records a lot more than techno but i still listen to techno, and if theres a tune i like, ill buy it. but i know what you mean i think i know a bit about the trance world, the djs, clubs, labels etc but i no nothing about techno, so its hard to talk about it.

hang on, i am very very passionate about techno, it`s virtually my life, and i class myself as easy going, i think the the trance forum is pretty good and you all seem a nice bunch of people, i wouldn`t say you have less passion for your genre as the techno lot, you do have passion, just that the discussion is a lot deeper on the techno forum.

not sure, can`t really put my finger on it, in my experiences on techno forums it gets discussed in detail, and there is usually always arguments, this is mainly due to people being so passionate about it., that`s what i think anyway.

on here things get discussed, but you all seem to like the same producers/dj`s, that`s why there is never any heated disscusions, this isn`t a bad thing though.

    that`s my 2 cents anyway, `im confused now :?

    i have to agree!

i personally think that. maybe its because there are more producers in the techno section?? i think that they analyse things a little better over there and are perhaps a little less secretive! -i haven't really bonded with anyone in here yet :(
they seem to post about all the latest news that they hear and comment more on the direction that they fell certain labels and producers are heading in!
if youve been browsing the techno forum over the last couple of days you'll definately see how passionate they are!!

That's what I was getting at originally. We need more juice! There have only been a few topics in this section that I've really dug my teeth into.

Word indeed to Wenna and Techfunk. As well as what you two guys said, does anyone think it might also be an age thing ? Not to generalise too much about the ages of individuals, but I'd reckon it's a safe bet if we took the average ages of the trance forum and the techno forums, we'd find a higher age group on the techno forum.

My personal feeling is that when I was younger, I was caned all the time listening to 180bpm+ gabba, but now I look for something a bit more musical and melodical. I'm not so keen on too much of any one thing anymore, so I can't do all hard or all uplifting. That's why techno fits the bill for me cos it can be so many things, whereas from my position here on the outside looking in, trance seems to be more genre driven. A lot of you trance guys seem very, very passionate about a particular style or flavour i.e uplifting or hardstyle (sorry I know you don't like the word ). Hence less room for disagreement.
Just some thougts, probably wrong, so kick away if you want

I'm 21 on Saturday, I've been on the scene since just before HardHouse went commercialised so I wouldn't say I'm a complete expert on the "scene" but I definiteley love it to bits, all genres (although I don't know a lot about techno and I only own 10 techno tunes). I think age might have something to do with it, maybe 5 years down the line I'll be a technohead.

im sure everyone on the hard trance board is just as passionate, but from my point of view, id rather not get involved in some of the heavier discussions, like they have on the techno forum, of course its good 2 have discussions etc, but i just prefer the atmosphere where everyones chilled with each other. at least no one starts bickering that way!
i suppose in an ideal world u want 2 get a balance between a bit of healthy argument and a bit of chilled out-ness!!

did that make sense at all? :?

also i agree with trance addict, ive only been on the scene about 3 ish years, although i do like techno & buy techno records that i like. maybe ill be more into it in a few years!

It kinda makes sense, so long as you're not suggesting we all let someone get away with something just for the sake of keeping it chilled. If you feel strongly about something you should always speak up I reckon.
That's the great thing about forums in general though, you can dip in and out of the conversations you want to and ignore the stuff that doesn't interest you.
I think you might just have hit on another difference on the techno forum though. Lots of techno music and it's producers/players really pride themselves on being different to everything else out there, being a bit more leftfield (in style, not the band) or more cutting edge so maybe that follows through into the way they think about things in general life. If you are attracted to a type of music that is cutting edge and radical, then you might have opinions like that in everyday life, so your bound to be fairly passionate about those things as well.

For example, techno and politics quite often go hand in hand. Check the Liberators for example. The Geezers new choon is an anti-war statement.
Anyone heard it ? 1..2..3..4....We don't want no fcking war.
Anyone old enough to remember the Crass original that the sample came from ? I think it was originally about the Falklands war so things obviously haven't changed much...
Do any of you reckon there will be any Trance anti-war choons ? Would you want ther to be any ?
