Yes, I agree. It's all very well saying punters have to come out (although i'd be the first to say that myself too) but the bottom line is : Are we giving people enough good reasons to come out? Club decor/decent sound & lighting/varying styles of techno etc. all go a long way if you are trying to get people to choose a small techno club over a well established big club. A bit of style to the night other than the bare essentials helps a lot, and a friendly attitude on behalf of the clubnight helps too, I'm not sure what this should entail (Glasses of techno champagne on the way in would be a good start!) but a welcoming word or two from the promoter or associate adds a nice personal touch.

I think a big downside to clubnights and their future is the widespread unhelpfulness of the venues or venue owners involved.

There used to be that kind of stuff all the time. Now its a rare sight, and nearly everything has moved to the clubs like everywhere else. We also don't have a festival season like Europe does, not for electronic music anyway.

Well dammit, why didn`t you come to our night. We were in east(ish) london, (and will be again) and I talked to every person that came in, I mingle like a the most mingely mingeler there ever was.

My opinion as to what I want from techno?

    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

    hehe.

Seriously tho, its all been said. quality, variety and a bit of balls.

The smaller parties over here are doing much better in terms of these 3 aspects than the big over hyped parties with big names.

I think the small club nights are very good infact, and a far better crowd than a warehouse full of ****ed up kiddies with dummies in their mouths and clown pants. Seriously, what sort of message is that sending to people? The music is for babies?
