    Default Commercial CRAP!

Power Records what a load of crap it is! It specializes in Vocal Trance and Boucy House Anthems, you know all that commercial cheese with a Female Vocal in, all the 'Drain-Pipe' Basslines, and all the Cheesy Hard House!!
I never go in because it has no Hard Trance in.
Anyway my point is - Everybody in Wigan is into 'ScouseHouse' and all the Commercial Lasgo stuff. The People who own Power Records also have residencies @ a club called Wigan Pier hence all the shite out of the Record Store is spun here. As you can imagine it is full of pill-popping scallies who buzz off Lasgo and Milk Inc etc etc.
So the owners of Power Records and DJ'S of the club Wigan Pier, are also into all the commercial bouncy shite. Lately a guy i know, has been going into the record shop. And under the little trance section they have, they have been getting some Uberdruck stuff in. This surprised me because they only get commercial shite in, plus Uberdruck won't sell in Wigan, and all the scallies won't like it cos its too hard and they have no taste in music!
He also told me, that they stuck Uberdruck on the Decks (The new Fat as F''k 1) and where all buzzing off it.
Heres the main thing - The DJ's in Power Records release in their shop a CD'Wigan Pier Vol....' every couple of months with all the Latest shite on.
All the scallies buy it, and stick it on in their car, then they pass it on, then they copy it etc etc What i'm trying to say is that it gets around Wigan fast cos everyone's into it.
Anyway, apparantley they are going to stick Uberdruck's - Far as F''k on their latest Cd!!!!
I'm sorry but i think it's an absolute joke. The strictly underground Uberdruck name is going to be featured on a cd with the like of 'Lasgo, Milk Inc ' and all the rest of it!!!! Its a complete insult. And its really annoying. I can see all the scallies loving it not because of the quality and production what we all appreciate, but because its simpley different to what there use to and SADLY cos it says "Fat as F''k" Thats how sad it is.
A couple of months ago, as their last track they put on DJ Shredda "Chainsaw"
Simpley because of how mad the track is and cos of the obvious Chainsaw sample. All the muppets loved it cos of the Chainsaw and this is what they will do with Uberdruck.

Again, its the point of Underground Music being Played out in a commercial enviroment.

What else pisses me off is that they are shite DJ's who get away with apalling mixes on their CDs (the scallies haven't got an ear for mixing) And they also haven't got a clue about Hard Trance or the Undergroung Scene. Yet they are sticking Uberdruck on a CD with Lasgo, the Cd will be all over WIgan and all the muppets will think Uberdruck are quality cos it has a dark vocal in it called 'Fat as F''k'
I hope everyone understands my views.
I'm thinking of doing a CD with my finest Mixing (Every Mix Spot On) Full with Banging Hard Trance to see what they think. Basically to show them up on their shite mixing, and to show them that no every one in Wigan is into all their Wigan Pier shite. As they think.

I look forward to hearing everone's views

    Thanx for reading,

Sorry Craig, I changed the heading of your topic cause I think this is a very important topic and I wanted to get ppl to read it....

Mate, this is unfortunately the S**t that anyone interested in underground music is having to deal with at the minute. the way that information is, it's very easy to find out about any style/type of music out there. Uberdruck is the best artist out there in underground trance and unfortuntely, it's not hard for commercial people to find out about it. so all we can hope is that uberdruck realises this and keeps producing music that is way ahead of the masses and keeps staying true to forward thinking 'underground' music. I know in my heart (through knowing him) he will. Unfortuntely Scot Project didn't (in my opinion) that's why that sound is commercial. he played it via of commercial promoters in the UK, but he forgot about the UK underground. That's what matters. The future of music - the underground.

I think it's OK taking your sound to the commerical environment (to show them the underground exists) - christ, it's unavoidable these days if you're popular - but your heart has to be in the underground. Play your sound to the numpty's, show them there's something else out there and then stick with those who know.

Many of you may differ.. I welcome your views... So does Craig...

I know exactly where your coming from, because my cousin owns a local pub and i regually play there. And about 2 weeks ago some bloke came up to me and said have you got N-Trance - Set me Free? And i said na sorry mate.
Anyway my misses came down that night while i was playing and said she her some dickhead say "What a shit DJ, he hasnt even got N-Trance".
All twats that think like this dont understand music, but i suppose i was in a pub where people are used to the cheesy commercial tunes.
I dont usally play much hard underground stuff but when i do they still seem to love it. I think that people do like the underground tunes that are out there but just dont know about them. But i think its better that way because look at how fast tunes get boring and annoying when everyone knows them and has heard them a thousand times.

I think there should be a clear line between commercial and underground!

I agree what your all saying here is an example I new it was going too happen when neo got front page article in mixmag much respect too the neo crew but it in my opinoin bad move, basically the article was based on ex sunddisential ravers who no nothing on the scene,

They basically pigeon holed hardstyle/hardtrance/acid/techno into "Hardcore" they no nothin about the underground scence but think they do.
Anyways I got to neo friday night and behold I meet up with old friends from the last time I saw them big time cyber/sunddi boys laughable realy,
They read up on the night in mixmag I get talkin and 1 of my old friends mate is the resident dj at goodgriefs after party who plays leehaslam style trance maybe at the hardest drops guyver/style as his floor fillers,

Anyways as the night goes on I notice the resident dj from goodgriefs has a nice tidy collection of blagged vinyls off dj's who played that night
    tunes like "uberdruck" "atlantic wave"

I was like what the fcuk then I hear of one of my old friends say that he is gonna go play them at goodgrief the following night and that he was gonna start dropin more hardtrance/hardstyle into his sets at goodgrief and hopefully it will get him playing in the main club not just the after party.

You have got tossers like this who no **** all about the scene jump on the bandwagon and play our sound with commercial bollox,Again, its the point of Underground Music being Played out in a commercial enviroment

and I agree on sarge there should be a clear line between commercial and underground!

it has been a bit of a rabble but this shit is happenin and threatin our scene

    Default cock project

someone mentioned scot project - now there's a man for whom i've completely lost all my respect (and i had sh*tloads, believe)... he found that suddenly his new (although its pretty similar to "modem") bassline sold facking loads so he's decided to make about fifteen tunes with it and, for me, its totally lost all its impact. i thought that for the new one he might have had the balls to try something even slightly different but NOOOOO.... rinse out mother fudger.

hey hey hey EASY!!....Scot Project is a ****ing legend...full stop...people change....and he has done that...just because he has run out of ideas/gone commercial or watever you wanna call it...before you start slating him...think of all those **** damn amazing tunes hes left us with..club bizzare, future is now, somebody, scream, hands up, overdrive, paranoid, ding a ling, listen to me mama and the best.... modem.

Even if he did go commercial, i would lose no respect for the man...he has been a vital role in the hard trance scene worldwide (alongside mr EG himself);)....but he has done soooo much amazing work its hard for me to slate him....think people...

    Rant over...have a good weekend!!

A controversial opinion this might be, but I think Uberdruck are quite commercial orientated.

I could never understand why on earth they decided to put Fat As **** out on a UK label - it's not the actions of someone who wishes to remain underground, and what you mention doesn't surpise me at all . Releasing it on Bulletproof ensured that it appeared in HMVs and the like nationwide, for every 'Tidy' fan to buy. Their latest releases are much lighter than the old stuff too, which further ensures a bigger audience. Whether or not the guys are aware of this, I don't know - but it's hard for me to put it out of my mind that these guys are also behind the pop-trance of Lazard.

Uberdruck is by no means an undeground name anymore either - Dave Pearce was even playing their mix of Chainsaw not too long ago. I'm sure there'll be a lot of argument against my view...

Agreed on scot project, he has chosen the wrong route for now, but even still, hes been in this game for a long time now and hopefully djs who know him give proper feedback on the tune (its commercial). I was also thinking it might be something to do with overdose, other than all to do with the man himself. As scot projects set at godskitchen was top other than S, R and hands up. He played very hard. I think maybe he will use a different alias for the more bangin releases, as Arome and Scot project are too similer in style.

lets be honest, "chainsaw" is hardly what you would normally call a commercial tune... the fact that people like gap toothed gypsy "dangerous" dave pearce picked up on it is hardly dirk and davids fault is it.

however i can see your point of view, but i dont think choosing to sign to bulletproof was a conscious choice to "go overground" or anything like it... to them bulletproof is just a uk hard dance label like sectioned or any other... and waht are you saying about lazard??? best hard dance act in the world today!!!! heh he heh.... but seriously, a lot of artists do some commercial stuff... its that stuff which earns you the money and power to do what the fcuk you want when you write the music you love...

    Default OOOOO BABY!

If there's something I hate more than Ministry and the boyz its gotta be Scousehouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
I try to avoid any musical subject with anyone I speak to in Liverpool (where I live) because it always & I MEAN ALWAYS ends up with me sitting there steaming over the utter balls & small mindedness that my city has with regards to youth culture & especially dance music.

Whenever the subject of me djing comes up I always come up with the same choice of either saying I play hardcore or hardtrance. Either choice creates a response which makes me wonna smash the nearest hard object over the person i'm speaking to -

Say Hardcore - "Mate i used to be into that when I was about 12 / hardcore you know the score / how are you supposed to dance to that" GRRRRRRR!!!!!

Say Hardtrance - "They play that at so & so's / ave you heard blah blah (some poor scouse attempt at trance with sum slut screeching over it) thats bangin hardtrance that, what d'you mean you havent got it?" GRRRRRRR!!!

The whole dance scene in liverpool is ran by about 3 DJs & what they say goes!!!!! if you dont like it then there must be something wrong with ye, thats the mentality of the city & I hate it with a passion.
Every single bar & club in town plays the same tunes over & over, since I started going out about 5 years ago I have heard the same tunes week in week out.

If the music was actually about the MUSIC & not the singing then maybe I could put up with it. its got to the point we're I cannot go anywhere in liverpool & enjoy myself because that same awful crap will always be there blasting down my ears & I'm to serious about my music to be infected by it any longer.

HOW THE HELL DOES SOMEONE SCREAMING THEIR HEADS OFF ABOUT TOTAL NONSENSE MAKE ANYONE DANCE?????????

Mate, i'm just round the corner from you (Wigan) so i have the same problem!!! Scousehouse has flooded from Liverpool into Skem and then into Wigan. Like yourself im just totally sick of it.
Every guy i know from Skem bums Lee Butler. Thats all you hear. And the shitty club near you the '051' What the hell is going on??

Speaking of which, is there any decent Undergroung Hard Trance clubs in Liverpool???
If there is mate, tell us the directions and up-coming nights what are on.

Yeah, I wasn't saying that Chainsaw was ever made to go commercial, just pointing out that even Fat Boy Dave himself has heard the name Uberdruck (or The Crow).

I think if anything, they are commercially orientated only through naiviety, they probably don't understand that uk labels are generally going to throw them in that direction.

well yeah, if you play shitloads for an original track from a fairly big artist your gonna need to shift some units otherwise there's no point in it... its all very well saying your in it for the love of the music, but at the end of the day everyones got to pay the bills!!!

As far I know i'm the only person in liverpool who promotes any hardtrance/teckno events. I've been tryin to get a venue for bloody months since the last one, its like telling venue managers that i'd be bringing the devil himself to the club if I mention the word hardcore! an the venue we used last time had a dress code which people moaned about.

I'll keep you posted if I hear anything or keep an eye on our events site incase we sort a venue - www.futureshock-online.co.uk
