are you bussing all your percussion together? it seems like when some of the percussion elements come in, they rob power from the hi hats.

I'll tell you what's going on.
If you listen really closely you would
remark a variation in velocity in the hi hats.
I did it on purpose. ;)
Same as constant velocity change on the snare drums and so.

I'm 100 % with you guys on making the sound of the synth bigger.
There is indeed enough room for this.
