EQ'ing can add a lot to a mix and is essential for the really high end mixing.

Although it is a little bit of a cheat when you mix the record coming in with the eq at zero, then suddenly boost the eq on that record and reduce the record before it to zero in order to hide that the record weren't matched up well.
