Thing is though i was reading in a magazine not so long ago about how real madrid buying Owen was always gonna be a win win situation for madrid.

They get a a player that should of been costing in the £20 mill bracket for £8 mill at best. Now even if he goes after this season he will be tied into a 4 year contract at least so it will cost a potential buyer around about double that to get him out of it.

The article was basically implying that Owen was never bought as a real challenger to the strikers ahead of him at Madrid but only as a short term money spinner if things don’t go well.
