Bill Kenwright has rubbished claims that Everton manager David Moyes will have nearly £30m to spend in the January transfer window.
The stories emerged after the Toffees chairman revealed he was close to striking a deal with the Fortress Sports Fund, headed by financier Christopher Samuelson.
Kenwright had told BBC Radio Five Live: "Hopefully the money - possible £28m, £29m - will be available in January."
But he has since revealed that his comments had been misinterpreted and that the money will not go straight towards funding squad improvements.
Kenwright told the Liverpool Echo: "I said exactly what I have been saying for the last couple of weeks.
"We are in negotiations with the Fortress Sports Fund, and the investment will come in two trenches somewhere between £12m and £15m for the first trench with an option, at a later date, for another £15m.
"I am not going to divulge how much David Moyes will have to spend in the transfer window... but David knows the amount and he is very happy with it."
