    Default What Monitors?

Need a bit of help choosing active monitors!

    we have 2 possibilities:

    Beringer Truths?
    M-Audio BX8?

    Any other suggestions?

it's soooo tempting and easy to skimp and buy half-as*ed monitors. don't do it.

i know im hijacking this thread, but its a question on the same topic:

    ns10s
    tannoy reveals, or
    circle 5s?

now i know the whole mantra about "make it sounds good on ns10s and itll sound good on anything" but still, what would you all recommend?

for gods sake don`t get any Genelec 8030A
there`s some in the new studio and they are aweful

I know nearfields are supposed to be flat and relatively upfront.
But these things are so damn uncomfortable to listen to.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

Hi boys just to let you know that the mackie monitors you are goin for did not get very good rating's in music maker magazine a couple of months ago. The best ratings came with the Event TR8's, apparently these can pump out a wicked sound.

    event tr8's: Frequency Response: 35Hz - 20kHz, +/-3dB, ref 500Hz
hr624: Low Frequency Response –3dB at 49Hz High Frequency Response –3dB at 22kHz
    hr824:Lower cutoff frequency -3 dB @ 38Hz, Upper cutoff frequency -3 dB @ 22.5kHz
    adam p11a: 48 Hz - 35 kHz

is the extra low bandwidth important?

I'm beginning to regret buying a pair of M-audio BX5s after hearing so much shit about the monitors in that range. They seem to be working ok for me, but theyre the first pair of monitors I've bought, so I ain't got a lot to compare em to. Whatever the case, I'll be sure to look a little more carefully at what I'm buying next time I reach for my wallet...

If you're looking for stuff on a lower budget, then it might be a good idea to buy 2nd hand, not only is it cheaper, but you can resell at a lot less of a loss if you want to upgrade.

it can b important but it also relates 2 the size of yer studio (standing waves and stuff! ;) ).. so if u have a small studio something that runs around 48-45 khz is very good!

Sure the more the merryer but u might get "extra"humpff" from yer space and end up with very light bass mixes!

I say it's more and more down 2 a good location 4 the speakers and the shape/ materials in the room...!
