Default drumcode remainings III style bassline

    Hey there!

There a lots of tracks that use similar bass sounds (birdy, shockabuku volume 2 (thomas krome) and i would
love to know what makes them sound the way they do.

    certain synth?
maxxbass on bass with extra peaks in the very low area that get cut out after the maxxbass treatment?! sines? dist? me iz stuk

of course these sounds have become a little stale, but i would like to know
what was so characteristic of this 'bassmonster'-''era''...

you know, juz gathering info and stuff

so if anyone can help me out

    Erm
I tend to layer a couple of sounds together
Sawtooth and maybe a deep sinewave sound too
    Use some bass saturation compression
a compressor sidechained to the kick to duck the bass a little
    Lots of eq
Have the filter envelope attack low so the filter sweeps in.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

    (its in german...)

    osc 1: saw
    osc 2: detuned sine

then lay out a nice spacey melodie (kind of) and put a lowpass filter on it deep down.

try two saws detune one a few cents, then you get that phasing common with dnb reese bass. you need some good distortion though. also a plugin http://spinwarp.com/downloads/ReeseMx.zip might come in handy

    don`t get any bass phasing.
Phase on a bassline is VERY BAD for vinyl, it will ruin the cut.

I use the basslane freeware to handle that

    http://www.otiumfx.com/basslane.php

Basslane is a free audio effect for VST compatible hosts. It's a simple, yet very handy little utility to control the stereo field of lower frequencies in your audio material. Allows you to define the processed frequency range while using several monitoring options, and to tweak how much you want it squezed.

    What is this useful for?

    • Regain tightness in the bottom of your mix by preventing kick drums and bass lines flying around all over the stereo field.

    • Drumtracks mixed from multiple sources, or processed with delay, reverb etc will often just sound confusing if the kickdrum isn't centered. Just drop Basslane on the track.

    • Experiment with effects on various tracks without losing definition and focus in the bass region.

Very useful when mastering for vinyl records.

Guitar Suite has some nice sounding distortion/ampsims. They're free too...

Little Green Amp by Wurr audio is also a decent free VST.

If you don't mind paying - Trash & Amplitude seem pretty good - NI's Guitar rig might be worth checking out too, though I've not heard that yet...
