Default Mix 1 or Mix 2?

Just working on this, its a bit rough around the edges but I like it so far. Need work on the arrangement. The second mix has a slightly funky feel to it. Suggestions and critism welcome as always. Not too sure which I like the most I will have to come back tomorrow with fresh ears.

The first one is cool in its own right. Kinda like "imminent danger ahead", whereas the second one made me think, "ok we're through the worst of it, now we just have to stay alive... RUN".

Now we just need someone to make a video game to go with them.

Oh yeah... not really sure which I like better though. First one is probably more dancefloor.... second one sorta ... slightly more epic?

It's gotta be the first one for me, just coz i like synth so much. Production is great on both, although i gotta say that i'm not keen on the kik, i see it needs character to carry, it's just that it's a little too hardcore for me.

Both good, but i'd go with the first synthy one ;) .

i prefer the 1st version., but i don't like the kick, and I'm missing some more subbass, i think :o)
otherwise, quality production as always....

That's great, I like the first one the most because there is more room and the overall mix seems to work better. The pitched sounds in the second seem to make it a bit too funky for all the other sounds

i prefer the 2nd mix to be honest, flows alot more smoothly, whereas the 1st mix sounded a bit clutterd to me.

Yea fair play. It will be the metallic synth that’s doing that. I think this needs a lot more thought put into the programming to make the sounds interact more after listening back now.

I like the kick. I will see what else works but I think I will leave it in. Cheer’s

I like both a lot, but i'm going with mix 2, lil
funkier and just like layout of elements better.
    Can't go wrong either way though : ) -&rew

Thanks JC. I have come back to this and tried to make it sound a little bit less generic.

Thing is now to me it sounds a little weak or empty but then I am not used to making tracks like this. Anyways I am going to post an url and check this on the uni monitors tomorrow as my ears a bit tired at the mo

This is really good - man i wish i had u're production skills, and knew how to get sounds like that outa a synth!

Like the vocal, and it doesn't sound too empty to me, it just kicked in at 3.30 - awesome. I'm listenin in headphones and the kick sounds better, have u changed it? or is it just me?

    well impressed.

Thanks, it’s the same kick only with diff compression and eq and also the downbeat has tube distortion on it. I am into my granular and Wavetable synthesis. Absynth 2, Reaktor and Maelstrom are the main ones I use.
If you want to suss out synths the best thing I would recommend is you run it n stand alone and allocate a couple of hours to and start with a blank patch. Also random buttons are worth using.

I think it needs a bit more work myself, esp on the arrangement but its coming along now.
