    Default UBERDRUCK

Right just thought id start this as suggested.
Sorry to craig if it seemed out of order for talking about it on your post.
Personally i think Uberdruck are one of the best producers around in the trance scene and have been for a while now, all i was saying in the other post was that they have become very popular in this scene. This is the reason why i try not to play as much of it as i would have usally. Dont get me wrong i would still buy a record if i liked it and still play it! but i just like to have something different and less popular, this is mainly the reason that steered me in the direction of underground music in the first place.

'It's just one of them things.'

Me, personally i will always buy Uberdruck because they are the best out there, with the greatest, must immense sounding Hard Trance i have ever heard. Every single one of their productions/Remixes has been spot on.
I will buy every tune they bring out no matter what. I will include them in my mixes because i love their stuff.......nothing will change this in me............

im appologising right now for what im about to say, but it has to be said.
i never try to be direct and personal with my points but, sargent what are you on about.

Does this mean you dont buy tunes because they are popular?
you are so concerend about your "underground" image that you seem to forget how far "underground" you are. I know this because in my situation i deal with underground and proper authentic commercial trance. I can clearly see the boaders so i no how far i can push it.

You need to relax more man and be safe in the knowlegde that you guys are underground and your music will never get played as commercial.

Your so concered with the "underground" that you forget to play and talk about music that is popualr with the underground scene. Its popualr for a reason, dont stop yourself from buying tracks because they are too popular.

DONT WORRY ABOUT YOUR UNDERGROUND IMAGE, IT ISNT GOING TO GET RUINED AT ANY TIME.

buy music that sounds good and is difned buy your style,
dont buy music because its attached to an image!!!

im sorry for my bitchyness but i had to say that.

I now feel that this point made by cascade, includes a few users on this forum.
Too many people are thinking about their Underground image.
Some people haven't got that passion for the scene. You just cant afford to ignore the likes of Uberdruck when it comes to hard Trance

"You just cant afford to ignore the likes of Uberdruck when it comes to hard Trance"

well, yeah you can. i dont play any uberdruck and im doin ok for myself. i just dont like it, i find it quite cheesy - and the releases are all pretty similar now. I also refuse to buy records with that freaking kick that hennes n cold made oh so popular.. why? cos theres no point in having all those tunes that are basically the same but with a slightly different breakdown.

and while im on about it i also wont buy records with all the cheesy ass talking in the middle.. you know the ones - like 'kicks n bass' etc with that voice on about "last time we showed you..." GASH! they make me shudder.

basically, some ppl have got to avoid that sound else every dj on in a night will be playing the past X number of uberdruck releases and the odd dance pollution.... so its good that ppl like Sargent wont play it in my eyes. hurrah to him!

Me personally, I don't think anyone has the right to dictate to others on what you should or shouldn't play. Who cares? Play what the hell you wanna play. You wanna play two remixes of the same tunes on a cd? - go ahead. You wanna play all uberdruck stuff? Go ahead!
I can't see what the problem is here, and why people are getting worked up over it. I can definitely see where Sargent is coming from, in Plymouth Uberdruck are really well known, they've played here twice and a commercial dj in the biggest club canes all their stuff. I don't like their new stuff, i've heard it out, and it just doesn't do it for me - the production quality is immaterial if you don't like a tune.

I can see both sides of the argument here

It is one of those things though...

I do think Ubderdruck remains fairly underground in the UK scene, he's prehaps the most well known and popular German Producer of Hard Trance at the moment in the UK.

His old releases to me were fecking brilliant......

but I think in my opinion he peaked at Turntable Junky then has gone slightly down hill ever since, but has may'be made up for that with Fat as Fu*k, but still his newer releases seem to please my ears in general less and less.....

He's still making quality Hard Trance and every release is just that. Its just that when you make such shit hot tunes, its hard to live up to everybody's expectations time after time.....

No it means that i will still buy tunes if they are popular but i will not play them out as much if i think most other djs are going to be.

I am not concered about my underground image at all, i couldnt really give a shit what ppl think of me. By what i said i didnt mean i am trying to stay as underground as i can i just ment im trying to be different from the next dj, like we all are.

I am relaxed, and im not worried that my music will get played as commercial, where did you get this from?

Im not concered, i still play it, and still talk about it, like we are now. Im just saying that i dont buy every track that is popular just to wow the crowd, id rather have a set full of tunes that the audience has never heard than one full of popular tracks that they have already heard a few times before.

I do buy music that is defined by my style and i dont buy music because its attached to an image.

Too many people are thinking about their Underground image.
well someone has to think about the way our music is going before we get shat on once more, its happened before and it probably will happen again quite shortly. I dont think its a case of this 'image' of being underground cos thats bollox. I could well turn around and say your 'image' of trying to be like everyone else buying uberdruck just to look good - which i know is bollox for people on here, but its just unfair to label people like that. Its the people who try and be different as a dj that will succeed in this industry.

Some people haven't got that passion for the scene. You just cant afford to ignore the likes of Uberdruck when it comes to hard Trance

I'm not too keen on all of his stuff, but that's a good thing. He is the Andreas Kraemer of "HardStyle" (hate that word) out of all the germans now producing it. To not buy his tunes because you think it will make you different as a Dj is perhaps a little silly because his tunes are what the crowd want to hear at the moment. As long as they're not over-played they can add a vital bit of spice to your set. You'de be missing out!!!!!!!! 8)

i like uberdruck and buzz off their tunes, and will continue to buy them until i stop feeling like this. however at the same time i recognize that he is one of the more well known producers on the scene, and that it is important to also keep hunting for sounds that are less well known, to make sure that i dont just stick to one sound that i like, otherwise things would be dull and predictable. i agree with what someone said that you should try to play less well known producers cos if everyone stuck to the tunes they know the crowd will love it would get very boring!
imo, a good nite is when the dj plays a mixture of tunes like uberdruck, where you can go yeah, this tune is the bollox, and tunes where you just stop and go wow! what the fcuk is this!!

(this is NOT a personal attack on anyone in anyway!!!!)

Its nice that we have icons within the scene which no ****a outside of it knows about. But as up & coming djs we need try & make our sets stand out as much as possible from within the scene, I dont think playin the same stack of tunes that the previous 3 djs that night played is gonna do that.

When I first got decks years & years ago I was always looking for stuff nobody else had, this was when I was playing commercial house shit and didnt know any better. Ive always tried to be different to everyone else around me & doing that has led me to here so far, I'm not going to stop trying to be different now just because what I play seems orignal to the average raver or clubber. I want to be different from everyone while playing a sound that i love.

P.S. Stride I'm now offically your number one fan. Still aint heard you playin any hardtrance yet though :D
Agree with everything you said, an especially about the talking in the breakdowns. I do however like small samples of say film clips in the breakdowns just not all that "give me some bass and a kick with large fries and extra mayo" bollox! Irevelivent voice samples always sound good to me coz I think it makes your head try and connect the music to it and puts some strange images in your brain.

Well, this has to be the most heated debate on the hard trance forum ever!!! nice one for trying to keep it respectful everyone - really good. Please keep it this way. Everyone has their right to feel the way they do.

But I totally agree with Elle. She said it all perfectly.

Regarding buying tunes because they are popular was kinda a factor in the reason why i bought loads of uberdrucks in the first place, they were the first name i knew in the hard trance scene alongside scot project and wag, its the same with djs, when i entered the scene the djs i could name were mark eg and mzone. But your taste grows over the years and leads you into new and more exciting genres of trance, i know i have, i started with the typical uberduck style trance, all i loved was the bassline and theyre evil, dirty sounding tracks, after this my style swung directly into the way of hardstyle, for a period i was playing nothing but. But now my style has changed yet once again, and it has stuck, Hard and Uplifting, now i buy tunes even if they have the faintest bassline but the lushest strings and the most creative keys and riffs. So my opinion on this subject is i think Uberdruck are the most well known and therefore you go through there music when you begin, but if there style has stuck with you then fair play, that must be the way you like it, and isnt that what its all about? Playing the music you love, whether it be uplifting, dark, acid, hardstyle or classical jazz, if you love the music you play then you deserve respect from others.

Right im going for a mix now!! :D

Like Mark said, a very heated debate going on here.

I've been thinking, and everyone's styles/tastes are different.
Uberdruck are my Fav producers, some i am going to argue for them and include them in my 'own, personal ' mixes.
That doesn't mean though, when im doing a mix for a reason that i will include them. It depends on the reasons/feelings of that particular mix.
I respect everyones opinions on this matter, and i also agree with Stride, that playing different is a good thing.....don't worry im always hunting down fresher sounds, rarer records etc etc etc.
I also agree that Uberdruck are very popular within the scene, and are getting cained alot.

    Enjoyed the debate...
