    Sometimes 4, sometimes 8, but usually 32 or 64.

I like the kick to change up every so often.

Some loops are two beats long, some are four, and then there's stuff that goes on over longer usually 2, 4, 8, 16 or whatever. If it doesn't sound rocking enough try shortening a part to two beats.

If you want a giggle try a 3 beat loop, synthy parts sometimes sound amazing like that...

2 beat for the tougher percussion
    4 beat for the swing
8 beat for the indulgent spacy stuff

The shorter the loop is the more slamming it gets
with a longer loop then you can get more going on,more funk and better dance moves of course
a lot of the time i start a one or two beat loop going get it so its driving then paste it over 4 beats then add the funk by programing a longer loop over i twhen you have this going then do some variation on 16or32 or whatever.Dont make it too predictable tho.

Perhaps try looping somthing youve done thats 4 beats to one beat try it with the first beat of the loop the second beat and so on or try on the half beat you may find it sounds better than your original loop(possibly ).

ok ..once agian i sorta think this is what ive tried...i made a simple 4 kick loop with percussion etc ...then save it to a wav file..and place it ina new file...placing it on every 1 2 3 4 ...where the original kicks were....sometimes it soudns more liek NRG/uk hardhouse(or hardhouse if ur from the uk/....=) then actual techno...
