Strings/Chords

at the moment i havent learned howto create decent strings
with my korg electribe.. but ive got some nice strings using
buzzmachines... how can i create something nice without
music theory and chord theory?

whats the possition on sampling chords/scores from classical music?

or get yourself a vst, something like vanguard. You'll be able to make all sorts of synth, string type sounds with that. all you need to do is twiddle different knobs, no music theory needed there ;)

There's a difference between making Strings and making chords though, isn't there! ;)

i found a book a while back that has every conceivable guitar chord (one per page). very handy and easily transferred to a keyboard or sequencer. it's called "incredible chord finder" or something like that. well worth the $10.

Definitely a difference between chords and strings a nice string is nice but you haven't got that full feeling like you have with a chord.
The best thing if your going to use strings is over lap them a bit put 1 high 1 mid and 1 low

Major triadic chords for complete beginners...

Each note up or down (white or black) is called a semitone.

To make a major triadic chord do this...
1) Pick a base note for the chord (e.g. C)
2) To get the next note count 4 notes up the keyboard (both black and white notes) - in our example that is E.
3) To get the next note count another 3 notes up in our example that is G.

To get a minor triadic do the same but count 3 in the first step and 4 in the second - so C minor is C, D# and G - just one notes difference.

There are then 'inversions' of the chord (e.g. transpose the C up an octave (12 black and white notes so its the next C up the keyboard)
