Just have read this on Miss Kittin website ....

    http://www.misskittin.com/diary/09-2004_frameset.html

let me know your opinion about this. Mine is ,as a dj that ive never met any situation like this coz im not famous for that. Ive always felt the people who came to me were nice dudes and always liked to chat with them.

But maybe some people on this board have expereienced worse people and should share Kittin's opinon.

I think Kittin might have problems 'cause she's female. I never have problems like what she describes. I'm a pretty big guy, nobody ****s with me. As far as autographs and photos, I'm damn lucky anybody wants either from me so I never complain about it. You'll really be complaining when it ends.

    Happy New Year!

Do you know, I really love Kitten's music. I love her music, her sound and her attitude - IN THE CAR AND IF I PLAY IT.

And that's where I think the prob is here. Kitten is not a DJ. DJ's are entertainers. You sign autographs, you take pics. PPL have paid money to see you. It's the least you can do. Sometimes I've had flu, a 27 hours flight and I still do it - with a smile on my face.

I heard Kitten DJ the other day and she was diabolical. She should stay where she belongs - annd that is in the studio. Which leads me to the conclusion that the only reason she is out there is cause of the cash. And I for one don't feel comfortable thinking a DJ is ripping ppl off to get paid.

    My opinion.

I've seen some dj's acting like stars, being arrogant to kidz and all..some even demanding from promoters to prevent kidz from coming close to them.. thats a BS if you ask me..

chatting before or after the set, asking autograph or taking photos is ok, like Mark wrote its the least dj can do for the fans, but on the other hand, sometimes some xtc head comes in and starts shaking the table with turntables, or comes into dj booth boring djs with his music wishes that often dont have anything in common with music being played, or jumps on him..
I remember even some falling over decks, messing with decks/mixer while dj is going throw his bag for a next record, spilling drinks all over record bag..and so on and on..

this kind of things I guess would make anyone nervous..

I think if you get to the level where people are asking you to sign stuff and have their picture taken, that it's part of the job to do that.. I mean, these kids have made the effort to come to your gig, and dig your stuff that much that they ask for your autograph, it's gonna really put a bit of a bummer on their day, and definately put them off buying yor next record or going to your gig.. In germany and various other places around the world I get asked for this kind of thing sometimes at gigs, I think it's maybe a little silly for me, cos I'm just like anyone else really, a regular guy, but I would never want some raver to come away from a gig thinking "that asshole hawkins is really up himself, he wouldn't give me an autograph and wouldn't talk to me".. Like I say, it's part of the job, and I find it strange if people have a problem like this, and also when people complain about gigging all the time (Ok, I HAVE been guilty of this before), for christs sake, it'S better than stacking shelves at Aldi!

BTW: Berlin is ****ing rocking, germany really is the techno lifestyle.. I just walked to the supermarket here to get some food for breakfast and could here techno or electronic music coming from various underground parties around my area, like just walking around the streets in my hood and you just hear a fat 909 kick coming from various houses and old industrial buildings.. there's a lot of sqautters here in freidriechshain (My district), I think that may have something to do with it. Some parties must have been going on for 2 days, the people here are so up for it... it's nuts!

seen Kitten once a few years back but really cant remember what she was like, altho she was apparently one of the ones to watch at the last Sonar Festival, standing in for Carl Cox and apparently she rocked it to pieces....

as far as autographs, fans etc, well only the last 2 times ive played Voodoo has anyone ever asked for an autograph, its nice but i makes me feel a bit self concious as Mark pointed out, im just a normal, and quite young, lad so its a bit strange when people who are older than u want u to sign a poster or a tshirt for them.. but its cool, nice to know people appreciate what ur doing up there for sure, and as for people on the stage well it can be ok if they are ur friends, or as long as no idiots are trying to touch the decks or even steal one which happened at Voodoo, then otherwise its all part of the club night i guess

Mark i agree with what you think of the "DJ attitude" u describe. But about Kittin well your opinion doesnt really concern this.

Like every DJ im sure everybody will find some ba dgig she did. personnaly ive seen her twice at Sonar this year, and the party @ Loft was amazing, she finished the nite exciting all the people, smiling and everything, playing good music. Im sure i could ahve seen tears on her if i had been close enough to her.

Secondly she doesnt slag the usual fan asking for autograph, but more the xtc agressive trainspotter. I droped this topic to know if that happens a lot, not to slag the girl =)

it always makes me laugh how carried away somple people get. theres realy DJ groupies out there.

i've always admired DJs because good DJs are professionals and to get to a professional standard in any subject (be it accademic, sporting or music etc) it takes a high level of determination, skill and knowlage. something worthy of admeration.

however there is a fine line between admiring someone for their professional skill, and obsessing over them.

Yeah but there is always more dj's who get too caught up in that 'I'm a superstar dj attitude'. Personally no disrespect but sometimes Kitten talks way too much about how people bother her, and expect her to be her friend, and all that shite(Although I think she jokes around and its part of her act when doing songs). It gets very tiresome. I personally like to talk to dj's and musicians and tell them I like their music and talk about future plans etc. Whats wrong with that?
Having said that, reading that article she was right about the general incident. No-one should be abused and it is wrong whether djing or not.
Far as her djing, I've seen her once at the Egg. She was good. I can't really comment about her djing too much because I have only seen here once. She likes her bleeps alot which I don't totally agree with(From her mixes) More of a ambient feel.

Icom was a good album. A definite grower with something different then what I expected. I prefer the Hacker album but Icom was very good.

can understand she gets a bit freaked out by people jumping at her but it's part of the scene, at least the club scene and if you don't like it, yeah, maybe stay in the studio...

We don't know how far these freaked out fans went to difficult to say but as a general rule, you have to take the good and the bad from your job...

Saw Kitten play late last year. She played to the crowd, alot of predictable stuff but also some killer electro tracks, danced like a loon, smiling all the way and was more than happy to shake a few hands.

Just wish she hadn't had all those tatoos plastered on her arm
