Didn't know about GComp - will have to check it out. This was the only visualised waveform compressor I knew of:
    Sinus Peak Compressor

Shareware rather than freeware though...demo does the nag screen thing.
    http://www.sinusweb.de/
And for multiband compression, there's this:
    TripleComp

thanx, iq, and to all people contributing

    another goodie here....

    Inspector

    Sonic analysis with a twist.

    Spectrum Analyzer and more
Inspector's spectrum analyzer gives you a clear picture of the sonic properties of your mix. Real-time numeric readouts for balance, headroom, and clip incidents tell you exactly what is happening from sample to sample. All in a compact size to save your desktop space.

    Wake up
Let Inspector keep watch over your mix - you determine how closely. Only care if two consecutive samples clip? Want to know if your mix is a little too off balance? Inspector's Master Alarm lights to notify you when thresholds you set are passed.

    Meters, meters, meters
You want meters? Now you've got plenty. With balance meters, peak meters, and RMS meters, Inspector gives you the tools you need to get just the information you want about your sound. Plus, Inspector lets you customize its meter caution and warning zone levels to suit your needs.

Come on, you know I'm lazy
New in version 1.2 - externally control Inspector parameters to make your analysis sessions simpler. Automate alarm reset at the beginning or ending of a song to prepare for a new analysis run, or automate the enabling/disabling of the spectral display to save on system resources at key times in a session.

Inspector gives you full-featured and flexible audio analysis in a compact plug-in.

    DuckDelay

This is a delay whose output is compressed when there is a certain amount of signal present on its input. It allows to use a lot of delay on a voice without loosing too much intelligibility.

    s(M)exoscope

s(M)exoscope is an oscilloscope VST plugin. You can use it to visually monitor audio wave forms.

Why would you do this? Well, why not? There are countless times when being able to see what your audio waveform looks like could be useful. You'll know when the time is right. For all those other times, well, it's very pretty to look at!

    X-CITA

Analog style exciter for mastering purposes,
inspired on the BBE Maximizer models. Its warm sound and simplicity of using makes this exciter very suitable to add some subtle brightness in the high frequencies, and also make the lows more dense. Apart from the mastering stage, you'll find that it can also make a good work on individual tracks.

    BAXXPANDER

    Vintage style saturation/bass expander unit,
presented as VST effect. We think this plugin is specially good to add warmth and saturation to drums
and basses, and with vocal tracks that need a little punch. It uses very little CPU, and includes 8 factory presets.

"Anyway, it uses pure mathematical waveforms for maximum aliasing, so don't play it through speakers or headphones, and do not listen to it."

great shares guys! heres some more,

Array of 88 comb filters tuned using a .TUN microtuning file with feedback path. Is sensitive to MIDI input, with channels 1 and 3-16 activating their corresponding filters and channel 2 controlling the tuning of the feedback path.
    dl: http://dsp.trilete.net/programs/Macomate_v1p0.zip

A comb filter effect based on the core code from MutantKoto. I guess this might make it slightly similar to ConcreteFX's more fully specified Brush, but I haven't used that effect/synth so I really couldn't say.
    dl:http://dsp.trilete.net/programs/Mukoco_v0p61.zip

A feedback delay featuring 2 frequency-warped lattice filters in the feedback paths. Lattice filter coefficients are scanned from a bitmap that can be user definable or are extracted in real-time from the input signal. Only available as a Windows VST.
    dl: http://dsp.trilete.net/programs/2WarpDelay_v1.zip

Chaotic additive under redevelopment (when time permits).

    The Shepherd

Kill Bill has a tune in its soundtrack by Ennio Morricone featuring a haunting and evocative whistling. This 'mini-synth' is designed solely to re-create that sound - just add reverb. This shepherd likes to whistle while he works. Features include:

    - very little really
    - just enough control over sound
    - just enough control over play.

    Delay Lama

Delay Lama is the first VST-instrument to offer both vocal synthesis and a real-time animated 3D interface. Its advanced monophonic vocal synthesis engine enables your computer to sound just like an Eastern monk, with real-time, high resolution control over the vowel sound. What's more, the plug-in window displays a 3D animation of a singing monk, that reacts directly to your input!

In addition, Delay Lama offers a simple but effective built-in stereo delay (you've guessed it), to give it just that extra bit of impressiveness.

The instrument can be controlled either with a MIDI keyboard, in which case the pitchbender acts as a vowel manipulator, or with the built-in XY-controller, which allows simultaneous control over both the pitch and the vowel sound. Other controls include the portamento speed and the level of the delayed signal. All parameters are controllable via MIDI, and all incoming events are handled with sample-accuracy.
