    Default TRANCE MCs

Do you think hard trance is a mc orientated music or not?

    Default Mc

"Mmmmmmm" yes and no, sometimes i feel its owed down to the style of music being played, i found that early 96 late 99 mc's seemed to be quite good, but back then trance was completely different sounding.. Sharkey had been on a roll for a while, energy seemed to be everywhere..

But i think that they got much over exposure for themselves and for our ears, also the amount of peeps turning up for all nighters and standing next to the mc askin for shout outs until dawn was just ridiclous. That was pre 2000, and then trance took a turn for the harder side, and i have quite a few tapes with ezy mcing and hes quite good.. Ezy seems to mix well with dark trance..

Hardstyle, well am not to sure wether it should be mc'd over, id probably have to go with no as for the factor as its not fast, and lyrically as an mc, i would presume after listening to many over the years you need to be a fast linguist.. I mean what made sharkey so good (Even though he still is now) all those years back in 96,97, was that the music moved with pace, and he could keep up with all those silly messy rhymes he use to muddle us all up in..

So as a whole backlash, i would say depending on what era your lookin at for mc'ing..

    If its now then No
But Back a few years, then defo yes!!

I think an MC definitely brings a non-commercial vibe to the night, which I always enjoy, I wish some of them would shut sometimes though and stop trying to rap over the music.

mcs are ok, some are a bit shit tho... just gotta avoid having one of them scallies who claims hes mates with someone or other picking up the mic while youre on. Ive turned down mics before so they are just shouting to themselves next to me....

    LOL....
as a general rule of thumb, no MC for me! but i can see why they are and like most things, get a good one and it can ehance the whole experience... but there is nowt more annoying then the lil sobs on tapes n that, which you tend to buy for the music, rather the party atmosphere, which is what MCs are for....

    Hi Im new here!
I think that Hardstyle shouldnt have an mc it is lively enough! But the slower, darker trance is more exiting with an mc it feels more like a party!
I love mcs but it has definatly got to be with the right music.
Happy Hardcore and mcs go well!

I agree that you need mcs as they give an underground feel, but alot of them are shite. Ezy is probably the best mc out there, but i think robbie dee has been overlooked. Hes a complete nutter

i used to h8 mc's. but now i realise that the right mc can add so much to the sound - if he knows what he's doing. in the most part i believe an mc should be someone who should announce the dj and then occasionally say 'fooookin cum on'... mind you i can do that myself. hahahhaa

mc's really come into play in certain circumstances. ie big raves or places where mc are always present.

the question - do mc's work? that's not one for music. it's for the particualr venue you're playing at....

i prefer no mc if that's the way it is at that club, cause then i can hear myself mixing but if you need one, then you bloody need one...

but what you don't need is that complete ass hole who want's to be the big man infront of everyone (god i've had soooooo many of these i've lost count!!!). in that instance, you get a really bad mc that doesn't understand the relationship between dj/mc and crowd. you wanna just grab the mic and shove it up his ass!!! hahahahha

from my view from the Dance floor, i find i miss it when there isn't a good MC at a party, as everyone will agree Ribbz is the best all round MC as he is also a DJ and understands the music and the importance of a mc at certain venue's and raves.
An MC at a club should just really introduce the Dj at the beggining and end of the set, like Si the Sigh used to do at the Country Club a couple of years ago.
    What happened to MC NRG???
    Is Sharkey MCing again???

I think Sharkey is the most entertaining, he comes out with some really funny stuff on tapes ive heard.

Dont like MC's who just constantly try to rap to the music, its boring as fck most of the time. Ezy, Ribbz & sharkey all actually talk to the crowd to hype them up which I think is what all mcs should do.

Mark E G is funny on the mic aswell, got a tape of him from slammin around 99 where he screems "THE SOUND OF PULSEDRIVER ON VINYL" then speeds the track up to death (per usual) b4 it even gets going properly. So we never actually get to hear what the sound of pulsedriver is. hahaha funny stuff
