    ADDICTION'S 5TH BIRTHDAY BASH @ VICTORIA HOTEL 7TH MAY 2005

When a bus of forty revellers boarded DJ Dam’s ‘biskit bus’ on Saturday 7th May it was clear that those after a pipe and slippers of an evening should have stayed at home. By the time the coach left Aberdeen, the beats were already blaring and the banter forthcoming partly due to lethal imported Czech brandy! Destination – Addiction’s 5th birthday bash, The Victoria Hotel, Forres.

Since 2000, Addiction has been responsible for feeding the hard-dance habit of hundreds in the North-East of Scotland. Initially attracting premier players such as Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes and the mighty Lab4, Addiction’s music policy has taken a tougher turn of late and is now recognised as an instrumental player in the Scottish hard trance, acid techno and hardstyle scene.

The Victoria hotel provided an aptly underground venue for an night of bone-shakingly hard tunage and unqualified carnage with it’s substantial, yet slippy, dancefloor and ample seating. Guest DJ’s included Vortex, The Doctor and the legendary Producer whilst MC Ribbz (fresh from featuring on new release ‘Hardcore Machine’ with Lee UHF) kept the proceedings in order. All evening a nearing capacity crowd were treated to tough as dog’s tits groovers; encompassing brutal gabba, storming techno, violent hardstyle with a little hard trance thrown in for the ladies! By the end of the evening the heat was stifling evidenced by the bare chests on the dancefloor and casualties taking time-out in the corridor. Three o’clock saw a slightly more subdued squad take a pew on the coach heading Aberdeen-wards.

Glitz and glamour don’t feature highly on the Addiction menu. But with an educated crowd and music policy packing more meat than an abattoir there will be no surprises if Addiction continues to keep people hooked on the hard stuff for years to come.
