Ive heard soapy water is good????
this will probably sound mental but baby wipes do an amazing job (i used to use the old soap and water number until i discovered that)
yes i've always used soap and water. but it really really annoys me when i keep having to refil the saucepan with hot water.... grrr... and i've got wet toilet tissue everywhere (oo-er!! hahaha)
i'll try this baby wipes tip too. any others?
If you're minted, this is the ultimate way to wash your wax :

Otherwise, I've heard these gadgets are good, but I've never used one. Can't see that they'd get right into the groove though. I reckon they'd only lift surface dust, but if you can pick one up cheaply it might be worth a go:

Soapy water works a treat, but it's a real pain if the centre labels get wet and start to bubble and lift isn't it ?
And I've heard there are record cleaning cloths that are just like those baby wipes, but for records, and they smell nice and minty fresh 8) . Don't know where to buy them though. :?
I didn't even know you could clean them? Does it make a difference to the sound if you havn't cleaned them in ages?
Sure does ! Grime builds up in the grooves and prevents the stylus from contacting the surface of the vinyl properly, which can leave them sounding a bit dull.Originally Posted by trance-addict

I have a little "machine" , i´ll try to fÃ*nd a link later.
It´s pretty good and fast
can you tell me the technique?
do i just jump in the shower with my vinyl and start shampooing them or what????
also i heard somone saying if u spin them on a stick thing the labels dont get wet????
yeah trance addict, i have to clean my records at least once every two weeks. any more than that and they start skipping and/or start to crack/sound dull etc etc. keeping your records clean is a very, very important part of the job.
the quality of some of the vinyl these days is criminal.
Yeah guys don't OVER-DO it!!
I have a record cleaning kit made by Stanton...
I used it too often, and it ended up doing more harm then good.... Made em just as dull as if I had rolled them in dirt.
Just clean them as much as you have to I suppose.

sorry didn´t find anything in english
i heard that zippo lighter fluid is a pretty effective method of cleaning ones vinly?
\"When I die I am going to heaven, for i have spent my time in hell.....\"
this may sound rather silly, but i never actually clean my records!!! what do i do, just run a wet soapy rag around them and dry them 0ff??
should i just wipe them in a circular pattern? or like a cd from the inside to the outside edge?
i used lighter fluid for a while and it just seemd to make my records more greesy than anything...
re: inside to outside/circular motion.
well think about it. if you're going inside to outside, it's different to the way the groove goes, so it's not going be as effective. you have to go outside to inside.
circular is just for t*ts. hahaha
