    Default OUTBOARD GEAR......

If you could have ONLY 1 piece of outboard gear in the studio what would it be and why?

    yeah good monitors are essential.

and so is a good desk for analog warmth. too many productions are sounding to digital these days for my liking (my personal taste of course)

i'm bite the bullet johnny and get both....

but then you'll defo need an outboard compressor to compress the mix if you get a desk.

    MIDI keyboard / controller.

Not a requirement per se , but what home studio is complete without at least one.

Difficult.... But I guess I would also go 4 the Monitors... but A major synth 8) ...

MARK ... I think most people just like the clean sound... It's my understanding that U can sound as dirty as U want If u really want that way... no matter what mixer u use... I know people who use hi-end digital .. and then after all digi pre-master run it thru a dj mixer and crank it up all the way 'till they get the bit** screaming... then they record back 2 DAT!! Aparently this is little like Joey Beltram (major respect) and Masters at work (respect aswell)...
